I have been having some amazing conversations online with people who think Star Wars' greatest weakness was not being convoluted and flashy enough.

Remember when Star Wars was the quintessential Hero's Journey about a lonely farmboy who longs for adventure, goes on an epic journey of self-discovery, realizes his true potential, and brings down an evil empire? Remember how nice and simple that was? And how it wasn't trying to be Game of Thrones?

I loved The Force Awakens because it made me feel things for characters I liked, not because people were twirling glo-stix and doing somersaults and mumbling about how O'omubuungo of the M'wathha were debating trade disputes with oh god let me die.

Also Mr. Thrawn shows up, who I guess is a very important character that doesn't matter at all because he died before the first Star Wars so nothing he says or does matters.

Maybe he will be presumed dead after this and show up in VIII or IX 30 years later? I hope so, anyway. Thrawn is a pretty big wad to blow and they need to be aiming him at the right place.

Ain't nothing wrong with that! i'm a huge fanboy of Hondo Ohnaka so the more Hondo the better!

This is so much better than the new Abrams Star Wars movies.

Sure it is, big boy. Sure it is.

I'm honestly surprised by Disney's new Star Wars canon. Not just because they're reintroducing Expanded Universe stuff, but because they've actually done at least one new thing with the canon instead of playing it safe. In the comic, a new character is introduced between episodes IV and V: Han Solo's estranged wife.

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-07-19

Isn't that Leia?

Sexy Duck Cop - 2016-07-20

I want to see a prequel trilogy about which events transpired between Han Solo taking a shit and wiping his ass.

And who did he buy the toilet paper from??? What's his story??? I hope Disney releases a quintology exploring his fascinating past!

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-07-20

Or they could try to confuse everyone by having him use the three seashells and connecting Demolition Man to the Star Wars universe.

StanleyPain - 2016-07-20

Considering all the effort they went to dismiss the extended canon, bringing Thrawn into the show seems like kind of a weak-sauce thing to do. I mean, he's the core villain of the entire post-ROTJ universe for the most part. Now he's just a bit character in a cartoon?

Star Wars

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2016-07-20

This looks worryingly like Lucas' clone wars 3d animated shite (annoyingly with the same name as Gennedy Tartokovsjys awesome show!, Im assuming Lucas did that to muddy the waters of something really well made in the star wars universe)

EvilHomer - 2016-07-20

Clone Wars was great. The Clone trooper episodes, particularly, were arguably the best non-video-game Star Wars media ever created.

What have you got against Clone Wars?!

It seemed really stilted and bland in terms of dialogue, delivery, pacing, other stuff. It was like a passable story was handed over to a robot who turned it into a screenplay and directed it. It is star wars after all, not exactly the kind of thing that you watch because of its amazing story.
