I can only speak to this from having worked for an Indian company (as well as general employment in the tech sector heh) but India is a country of a slew of official languages, but English seems to be the common second language that everyone (at least sorta) knows.

This combined with the fact that some idioms will always translate awkwardly/poorly from language make something of a conversational pastiche.

English is a pretty normal part of hindi...people in Delhi often suggest their hindi is worse than their English.

Yeah, I know that English is a major language over there, and basically the language of academia and much of the upper class, I just wasn't aware of it being back and forthed like this.
