I did a job 9 years ago where I was on a conference call with a factory owner in Shenzen with the nick name of "Teddy." Good ol' Teddy was advising the company to not engage in a direct import deal with a large retailer because that large retailer would do an audit on the factory and reveal that the factory was using child laborers and chinese prisoners working as slaves.
Everything you see here in this video is built upon a system of extreme exploitation and a complete disregard of basic human rights.
I did some training with some guys from Shenzen and they were very hierarchical; you had to talk to the main guy, the others wouldn't talk. I am a people watcher so it was pretty interesting watching how they interacted among themselves and with the westerners in the group. They all seemed very nice though, they opened up a bit more toward the end of the week but still maintained that hierarchical structure -- just a bit less stiffly.
