Caminante Nocturno - 2016-09-17
Having this show up right after a video about the McMartin preschool case makes it particularly exasperating.
|
jangbones - 2016-09-17 Yeah, if you want to rape kids and get away with it, attach yourself to a venerated institution first.

People love football more than they hate rape.

Cena_mark - 2016-09-18 And dogfighting. Go to an Atlanta Falcons game and you'll still see tons of Vick jerseys in the crowd.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2016-09-17
And now, to present Coach Paterno with a special honorary doctorate in the football sciences, let's all welcome our special surprise guest... Mr. Bill Cosby!

Michael Jackson still has fans too.

|
John Holmes Motherfucker - 2016-09-17 Believe it or not, Michael Jackson may have been innocent. Or at least that's the impression of some writers who studied the case. I personally wouldn't know. Maybe that's hard to believe, but not being a child molester wouldn't have been the most unbelievable thing about Michael Jackson.

EvilHomer - 2016-09-17 If it makes you feel any better, John, I myself have long argued that the evidence against Michael was unconvincing at best. So you are in good company!
|
dairyqueenlatifah - 2016-09-17 Yeah, I was just shitposting. I actually don't think Michael Jackson was a child molester.
|
Cena_mark - 2016-09-18 I think he was innocent too.
|
poorwill - 2016-09-18 I think he may have been a pedophile, but I doubt he was a pedorast.

|
SolRo - 2016-09-18 But we now also know mikey was so drugged up on sedatives all the time that it's unlikely he could feel aroused much less get aroused.
|
Chancho - 2016-09-18 SolRo, he was on drugs BECAUSE his dick was practically falling off from all the sex he was having with ADULT WOMEN! Michael was a red-blooded AMERICAN who loved a full-grown woman and he smashed so much pussy in his mansion that he needed drugs to heal his magic stick.
|
teethsalad - 2016-09-18 i too think nothing is wrong about a clearly emotionally damaged man preferring the company of children almost exclusively
i also think it's completely normal to have an alarm set up on your bedroom door to alert you of anyone's approach, totally normal

|
garcet71283 - 2016-09-18 I think Jackson had a severe mental disability brought on by his hellish childhood.
It's possible for people to become "age-locked". I seriously believe he really though of himself as a child and did not see the inappropriateness of his interactions with children.
Do I believe that MJ was sick? Yes. Do I believe he was a rapist? No.

Scrimmjob - 2016-09-17
I feel like Paterno kind of got thrown under the bus during the whole Sandusky thing. Was there any solid evidence that he knew about the child rape? I can't imagine he would protect this horrible turd at the risk of his legacy. Well, it seems like all this shit probably contributed to his death, so if he was complicit, I guess he got his.
|
jangbones - 2016-09-17 Despite legions of morons obfuscating and denying at a fever pitch, the facts are pretty clear to anyone with a functioning cortex (ie. not a Penn State fan)
1) Paterno knew more than enough. It wasn't one rumor of one incident, it was multiple incidents witnessed over a span of decades.
2) He had the power to do something about it. All football coaches wield outsized (and unspoken) power. Entrenched and successful football coaches wield enormous power. Paterno was above even that. I can only think of two or three other coaches in history that were in that kind of territory. And mountains of evidence back this up.
3) He did more than ignore credible complaints of child molestation, Paterno lied to a grand jury and actively covered up evidence. He continued to allow Sandusky special access to Penn State's facilities long after multiple complaints and at least one credible investigation.
Make no mistake, Joe Paterno was guilty of an absolutely terrible crime. It requires an incredible amount of self-deception and denial to exonerate him from the terrible sin he knowingly, actively, and repeatedly committed.
But hey the football team is good!
|
jangbones - 2016-09-17 Hey, one more because I am rollin'
"I can't imagine he would protect this horrible turd at the risk of his legacy."
I can imagine that Paterno would protect this horrible turd IN ORDER TO PROTECT his legacy.
In the seventies, Paterno ignores the evidence (including one victim that confronted him directly) because 1) it was a significant distraction to FOOTBAW, and 2) he could not bring himself to believe it.
In the eighties, he now has to continue to refuse to believe the new accusations and witness accounts, because he is committed.
In the nineties, he is now all in...with an active child molester. He knows he has a decade plus of denial in his history. If he does something now, he throws his own (considerable) sin into the spotlight. Legacy forever clouded.
So, deny deny deny. In the face of overwhelming evidence, continue to deny. No excuse is too ridiculous, too farfetched, to absurd, or too amoral.
And watch your sycophants fall into line behind you.
Paterno shares complicity in Sandusky's crimes. Now, in September 2016, the majority of the Penn State fan base also shares complicity.

|
jangbones - 2016-09-17 Yeah I am a local and know at least one active denier. This story enrages me to no end, because a large and vocal group of people are managing to maintain a loathsome level of denial for this long. It's disgusting. Inexcusable.
|
Scrimmjob - 2016-09-17 From what you said here it seems like Paterno had plenty of chances to do what was right. Hell maybe they could have even propped him up as a hero who stopped a serial abuser. I guess it serves him right to see his legacy crumble to shit right before he died.

Ugh - 2016-09-18
if i was the king of cfb, i'd judge that penn state could have their beloved paterno memorabilia back if they're willing to start every down with an extra 10 yard penalty
