Cena, as a sea-cop yourself, you should be sensitive towards the needs of the lionfish community, whom you are sworn to protect. This kind of kill-em-all attitude pervades in America's sea-police forces; who knows how many innocent young lionfish have lost their lives because of it?

Nothing says hunting like gently situating your quarry with your gun barrel before shooting it point blank.

Is they tasty?

They're tasty, and that's a good thing. Encouraging people to eat them will get them to kill them. The poison will only hurt you if you're stabbed by their spines.

Unfortunately the only effective way to catch them is spearfishing. They're not impossible to catch on a line or in a net, but it's super hard to do so. The problem is they tend to cluster around reefs, rocks & other things hazardous to nets & lines.

We have periodic round-ups where divers go out en masse to spear the fuckers. The lionfish are cleaned, fileted and wind up on plates at seafood restaurants. I've had it and it's pretty similar to sheepshead, perhaps a little more tender.
