Is privatization really the way we want to do space exploration?
kingarthur - 2016-09-27 Wait, this is post-neoliberal America. PRIVATIZE ALL THE THINGS!

SolRo - 2016-09-27 It's about the least worst way I can see the 1% spending their money outside of charitable works (which typically end after maximum tax deductions are reached for the year anyhow).
Arguably it's also the only way these will happen in America, because americans love instant gratification and hate long-term, expensive projects (except war murder toys).
Old_Zircon - 2016-09-28 I don't know, we were pretty excited about publicly funded space exploration from the 50s up until the 90s.
SolRo - 2016-09-28 that's a load of crap.
americans got tired of space exploration shortly after the first moon landing.

kingarthur - 2016-09-28 Is it even possible for us to find the natural resources necessary to become a space faring civilization before the explosion of our own sun though? Can we even hope to survive long enough to reach a stage of hopping from asteroid to asteroid for fuel?

Potrod - 2016-09-28 I'm all for NASA and public space exploration but I'm not sure why I'd want to therefore hinder private space exploration.
Old_Zircon - 2016-09-28 Potrod, it's not about hindering private space exploration it's about hindering messianic Libertarian oligarchs from amassing even more power than they already have.

I had to google around a bit to discover the fuel for this thing is methane. Leave it to humans to power their way to the stars on flatulence.
