Good thing I don't live in Texas. Now it can't hurt me.

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-10-28

It makes me feel rather like Br'er rabbit.

"Destroy Texas?!?! Oh no! Do whatever you like Vlad, I don't care, just don't destroy Texas!"

Honestly, nuking Texas would feel like being cured of the Clap after twenty dripping years...

I bet it's bullshit.

I mean sure they have a giant nuclear arsenal, but part of russian propaganda has always been this nihilistic pride in supposedly secret "doomsday" devices.

Monkey Napoleon - 2016-10-28

I can't remember where I read/saw this, so it might be bullshit, but I heard Russia is the only nation on earth that ever thought nukes hooked up to a dead man's switch was a good idea.

blue vein steel - 2016-10-28

Russia's 50 megaton "Tsar" bomb from the 60s(the biggest nuclear blast in history) was actually capable of 100 megatons, but even the Russians were scared of what something like that might do, so it was de-tuned. The problem with really high yeilds like that the fireball is so big, most of the radioactive fallout is blown into space, thus ultimately reducing their destructive capability.

A MIRV (Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicle (think The Abyss)) type ICBM is much more effective, by allowing a single missile to deliver 5 or 6 warheads at around 5 megatons each simultaneously over a large area.

And yes, many legit analyst do believe that the USSR did have a Dr. Strangelove style doomsday switch at one point, but it was likely never put into a readiness mode

So yeah, this is just propaganda BS.

Gmork - 2016-10-28

I know what a MIRV is, sir, and it's one of the best powerups in all of Twisted Metal.

memedumpster - 2016-10-28

It has to at least be as real as our nuclear powered laser satellites.

Nominal - 2017-10-10

Where in the world did you get this tech info??

The problem with really high yields has nothing to do with "wasted" fallout. Fallout is the last thing the military cares about with nukes. Reaching the target and going boom is what matters. You don't need a high yield for that, just an accurate delivery system. Higher yields means more weight means tougher to deliver. It's also a waste of material because you get diminishing returns on the destruction factor past a certain yield so it's just better to build multiple smaller bombs.

The largest bomb in the US arsenal right now is B83 with a max yield of 1.2 megatons. MIRV warheads run from 100-475 kilotons. The most common is the W78 with a max 350 kiloton yield.

Sure was great for Hilldawg to sell 20% of our uranium supply to the Russians. There's no way that could be a bad decision.

mustard - 2016-10-28

Russia has the fourth largest uranium supply in the world, and a huge nuclear stockpile. What meaningfull impact can the deal you refer to or the presence of Satan 2 have had on the balance of Power?

Nominal - 2016-10-28

It's not a week in PoETV without a drunken Hilldawg swipe from Nikon.

Nikon - 2017-10-12

If you're saying I had anything to do with Hillary losing, thank you for the compliment.

i think you should have to use all your old ones before you can make more

dairyqueenlatifah - 2016-10-28

If Russia's history is anything to go by, they'll accidentally blow up Moscow while trying to get the coordinates to Houston synced up.

The little notch on the top makes it look more like a penis than most missiles do.
