John Holmes Motherfucker - 2016-11-13

When I first saw this live on TV, which I don't even watch anymore, I laughed so loud I woke up my brother in the next room, was recovering from a really bad bike accident.

I don't know how famous the Trumps were in the rest of the country, but in 1990, this was a perfect New York joke. Donald and Ivana Trump were getting divorced, and the lurid details were on the front page of the two big New York tabloids, the Daily News, and The New York Post. A lot of the stories were about how Trump was supposed to be, to use a term I picked up in here, a sexual tyrannosaurus.

It was the first time I'd heard of Donald Trump. Maybe if not for his messy public divorce, Donald Trump wouldn't be our President-erect. When you're born rich, white, and male, you can land in the white house by tripping on your own dick. Consider George W. Bush, who in the future will probably be remembered as "the thinking man's Donald Trump."

I was only 6 years old when this came out, but I remember Dan Quayle and Trump jokes, and little else. I think OJ would be the next one. But yeah besides the last 2 years or so, Trump in the 90s was like shooting Fish in a barrel, with tiny tiny arms.

I never could find an scans of the Trump story arc from Bloom County on line.

I don't get why Bloom County is largely forgotten when it was the most brilliant satirical newsprint comic strip ever. I still have all the books, and aside from the 80s names & references, all the jokes still hold up.

I used to have all of them but a kid I hung out with in middle schools tole most of them and I've only replaced a few.

Well other contenders include Pogo and Lol Abner, and they're also largely forgotten. They probablyt just don't seem current anymore, but I bet they're all still interesting and entertaining as hell.

Incidentally, regarding the Sexual Tyrannosaurus, for years it was thought to be a sexual predator, but there's evidence that it was actually a sexual scavenger.
