Homer, Hardgay has a place in 2016 Japan. Japan is way behind the curve on gay rights, and gay representation in the Japanese media hasn't really developed (fortunately they get Steven Universe). He may be embarrassing in our eyes, but in Japan he's breaking down barriers.
