Aw, that Antony song doesn't really count, as it's not a cover and she's a he (or is she a she now) anyway. But yeah it's weird hearing The Pixies, Prodigy, Nirvana, etc. etc. used so frequently; it's only cool the first couple of times. I await the day that Final Fantasy 16 is announced, it's trailer just being a brooding cover of "Two Princes" by the Spin Doctors.

That guy - 2016-12-08

Why do people need to see so many shows about stupid shit that could never happen?

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2016-12-08

If they dont constantly jam noise into their headholes, they might start *thinking* D:

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-12-08

Teenage cynicism in comment form.

That guy - 2016-12-09

Strong and detailed take there, Cam.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2016-12-09

Because they're all just mindless drones that need, like, corporations to feed them neoimperialist propaganda, man.

Just out of curiosity, That Guy, what profound, thought-provoking, insightful media that expands your awareness of the human condition do you peruse?

That guy - 2016-12-09

SDC, do you want me to defend my dislike and often hate for wet fart tentpole movies by listing a hundred movies that aren't wet farts?
Will that make you happy?

15th - 2016-12-09

Not being cynical about worthless shit is somehow really cynical. Not sure that makes sense.

Hope this helps.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2016-12-09

That Guy: Yes. Because honestly, at this point, the number of people on the Internet who feel the need to loudly and constantly assert the superiority of their taste have become worse than the sort of people who watch Transformers VI. At least they just quietly enjoy their shitty movies without being a pretentious ass about it.

But anyway, go ahead and list a bunch of Wes Anderson and Cohen brother movies so we can see what a real genius' Netflix queue looks like.

That guy - 2016-12-09

I'm glad you hate snobs more than you hate philistines, and I love how my one-sentence lament set you off. Keep being itchy about this, it's a kick you've been on for a while now, and it makes a ton of sense. Thank you for coming to the defense of $50M to $300M movies with neither brains nor heart to them. We need moar of that.

"the number of people on the Internet who feel the need to loudly and constantly assert the superiority of their taste have become worse than the sort of people who watch Transformers VI"
This is true to you? A vocal minority complaining that movies don't have to be a trashy jerk sesh of commerce, nostalgia and VFX is worse? Aren't you a writer?

"At least they just quietly enjoy their shitty movies without being a pretentious ass about it."
That is a really over-general and traction-free use of 'pretentious', almost as if... you're failing to meet your intellectual aspirations in using the word.

"But anyway, go ahead and list a bunch of Wes Anderson and Cohen brother movies so we can see what a real genius' Netflix queue looks like."
I dislike Wes and I don't have Netflix. I would gladly defend Wes from a Suicide Squad fan. If you think the Coen brothers suck you can go ahead and never watch their movies.

from a guy who'd rather defend Marvel Universe fans. Please tell me how Star Wars VII: Death Star III is better than any one of these (let alone movies I don't quite know well enough to list, but were amazing on one viewing, like work from Truffaut or Kurosawa or Tarkovski or McQueen).

Or maybe you're going to object that I didn't include so-and-so, and therefore I'm the same as a Michael Bay fan?

Or maybe you'll find one that sucks and focus on that?

Can't wait to find out how this doesn't meet your approval, oh crusader against pretension.

Thanks Gears Of War 2 and Gary Jules...thanks a lot.

BHWW - 2016-12-09

Now, this is one of those unfortunate trends that you are aware of but it hits you how often you've seen this sort of hackiness in trailers when someone collects some examples.
