Wow, I am just stunned, saddened, astonished. This year taken so many luminaries, not the least of which was this man.
R.I.P. Richard Adams, you will be missed.

As much as I love Watership Down (it was easily my favorite book for a few years when I was preschool age), if I had to pick one Richard Adams book it would be The Tyger Voyage, if only for being just about the best illustrated children's book I have ever seen. It all look like slightly psychedelic Rousseau paintings:

Watership Down in *preschool*?

Old_Zircon - 2016-12-30

I didn't read it myself, my dad read it to me a few times when I was like 5 or 6, I loved it.

Moby Dick, too, although it didn't stick with me as much at the time.

In keeping with the theme of this week's celebrity deaths, the movie is pretty good but, jsut like Charlottes Web, it's got nothing on the book.

Actually, the Charlotte's Web cartoon was always kind of disappointing, because the book was so good and the cartoon is... a respectable attempt. Watership Down the cartoon stands on its own though.

I just gave someone The Plague Dogs as a Christmas present. One of my favorite books.

As a kid I never liked the book. Somewhere along the line I skipped over part where they say that they are rabbits and I thought the whole book was about fascist.

For Plague Dogs.

I own a copy of The Plague Dogs due to Skinny Puppy. This industrial music formation was inspired a lot by that movie for various works, including this clip which was sampled right in their Testure song:
