She's delightful.

baleen - 2017-01-02

I've been MIA for a while so I didn't even know there was previous poe-drama around this person. I didn't really notice that she was "attractive" (not my type I guess) or even a "girl," I was listening to the joke she was making. I guess I'm a white knight.

duck&cover - 2017-01-03

I'm talking about her content. She's pretty funny.

Lurchi - 2017-01-02

wasn't there a scene where black government lady shoots all of her innocent staff

Lurchi - 2017-01-02

my memories of this movie are extremely hazy

Lurchi - 2017-01-02

looking forward to small glasses becoming fashionable

TeenerTot - 2017-01-03

They're not? Crap.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2017-01-02

Shes like a terser version of stroke guy.
I watched a couple of her videos a while back and now youtube is totally swamping me with suggestions to watch all her stuff.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2017-01-02

Which is ok, shes good!

Xenocide - 2017-01-02

Oh yeah, our squad's great. We got the best squad. Along with Boomerang Guy, we have Rope Guy. He's great with rope. And Sword Lady. She has mastered the ability to purchase a sword. We live in a world of sci-fi assault rifles and indestructible flying men, so you can see why it's important that the US government spend millions to ensure the protection of our sword and rope experts.

Doomstein - 2017-01-03

Illegal Aliens. They should have invested those millions on that Kryptonite wall to keep them out.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2017-01-02

So you just need to be a mildly attractive female and be into nerdy things to garner a loyal following of virgin men who fantasize about having you as a girlfriend to make a living off of YT.

The comic at least acknowledged how stupid it was (at least, once upon a time) and was part of it's charm. the satirical "we know this is a comic" type comics are pretty much the only ones DC ever did well.
The movie was terrible, but even beyond the awfulness was the attempt to turn a ludicrous concept into a semi-serious "gritty" part of the DC movie universe. So fucking stupid.
I say this without trying to be funny or "ironic"...SQ is easily one of the worst movies I have seen in my entire life.

StanleyPain - 2017-01-02

That wasn't meant to be a reply, oh well.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-01-02

Why yes. Upon this rock, our whole "new economy" is founded. Caveat emptor.

Hooker - 2017-01-02

JESUS! 2.5 million views! The number of lonely, desperate men is reaching a really scary level. I'm not looking forward to how that all explodes.

Xenocide - 2017-01-02

"RED ALERT! A woman on the internet has succeeded at something! I want a full range of excuses designed to trivialize her accomplishment, STAT!"

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2017-01-02

@ Scrotum and Hooker.
I think ye are actually being sexist.
I happen to like the Plinkett reviews, they're vaguely entertaining and when I first watched them they explained a lot of basic film-making stuff I had never considered before. The fact they'er about about star wars keeps it nice and light, its like, hangover watching.
I like her stuff for similar reasons. Actually I think her videos are arguably better thank Plinketts as his meta-subplot scenes about Plinkett himself (keeping people in his basement etc.) are tiresome, and not what hes good at.
The fact that ye bring the sex of the youtuber up at all is weird. Do you think lonely desperate women are watching the Plinkett reviews for similar reasons?

SolRo - 2017-01-02

No, but there are plenty of 'pretty boy/men talks about a thing' videos on YouTube to fill that niche.

Basically YouTube functions on pretty people seeming much more interesting and entertaining than they would be if they were uglier.

A $100 hooker and a $1000 escort will do the same thing, but people think one is bad and the other semi acceptable

SolRo - 2017-01-02

Basically it's okay to credit at least some of success of any YouTube personality on their looks if they only do videos where you see them

Hooker - 2017-01-02

Right. So, SolRo doesn't speak for me and I hope you'll do me the favour of not letting anything he says cross-pollinate in your mind with anything I do.

We would have to establish a baseline agreement that some people's (I would say nearly everyone's, to varying degrees) opinion of others is influenced by whether they are attracted to them and, furthermore, that has a influence how how popular or marketable they are. RLM media is a pretty bad example - who's sexual fantasy is those guys? Who wishes, "If only I could meet a guy like Rich Evans?" A better comparable would be something like PewDiePie, which both is wildly popular and awful. If we can't agree on that much, then we probably can't get to a conversation on whether it's in effect on this YouTuber.

If we _can_ agree, then I would say this is pretty lousy (it's kinda clever, but the delivery is awful). I don't think this is anywhere near good enough to explain those view numbers. Maybe my taste is just off here, but I really don't think so. This is sub "Honest Trailers" stuff.

poorwill - 2017-01-02

Lol - of all the shit to throw a tantrum over. Stop embarrassing yourself, Hooker. These numbers don't need to be 'explained' - there's far, far, far worse stuff that does far, far, far better. This was funny enough, her case against the movie was succinct and well-developed. You say the delivery sucks, I say RLM could learn some stuff from her about editing and brevity - their videos are always 10 times longer than they need to be and here nobody had to get raped in a dungeon by an old man. But! Their audience like the length - they like to pretend that they have friends and they're hanging out with them, chewing the shit, drinking beers (those aren't just there cause they like drinking beer), trading jokes about shitty movies. See also: Giant Bomb. Nobody wants to fuck them but the need for companionship by the audience is still a factor. The World Is A Lonely Place, Hooker. Don't worry - I see you. I noticed your post. I'm paying attention to you.

baleen - 2017-01-02

Scrotum, nothing ever posted on this website has ever garnered an invocation of the "tips fedora" meme more than the bullshit that just dribbled out of your mouth.

RockBolt - 2017-01-02

"Is there going to be a contrived situation that only throwing a boomerang can solve?"

"No"

Maggot Brain - 2017-01-02

Her Westworld pitch is spot on.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-01-02

XD

kingarthur - 2017-01-02

Why does her level of attractiveness or gender have squat to do with how funny she is? Are girls not allowed in your nerd fan boy toy club?

SolRo - 2017-01-02

Oh man, she did one of those 'two strawmen have a back and forth that proves my viewpoint' skits. But it's totally not the same as when a political hack does them, because it's about a movie and she's a pretty girl.

Bort - 2017-01-02

Kids! Kids! You're BOTH right! Her material is pretty good in places, but it sure doesn't hurt that she's easy on the eyes.

chumbucket - 2017-01-03

Yes, I hated this movie.

Kid Fenris - 2017-01-03

I kind hate how That Guy With the Glasses and The Cinema Sins people spawned this subculture where pointing out plotholes (sometimes to the point of ignoring all context) takes the place of actual criticism.

At least this is more tolerable than ten minutes of WHY DIDN'T THEY CALL THE POLICE.

Kid Fenris - 2017-01-03

Kinda hate, that is. Kind hate is a different emotion.
