This game is great! I got it for 10 bucks on Steam but I think it's 15 for Xbox one too.. the story itself plays out like a BBS Opera full of ASCII art and in-jokes for those of us who didn't start a game without "cd/". It gets tough but never frustrates and plus it's just trippy FPS fun! THERE should be more games like this one.

(Also available for oculus.. once I get the touch controllers I'm getting it on my OR as well.)

I havent played the VR version.
But I agree the non VR version is great.
Well, the actual gameplay bits are great but the interstitial "BBS Opera full of ASCII art" are completely pointless and only serve to annoy you by not letting you play the great game.
I do like the atmosphere they lend but they could have included that stuff as a just a functional menu system or extra unlockable stuff you can check out of you want to.
In their current state they detract from an otherwise great game. I have a pet theory that the reason they are in there at all is that their dev team was too big. They had everyone they needed to make the simple awesome game + another guy who had nothing to do, so he did this stuff and it would have been rude / bad for the team spirit to scrap it or savagely curtail it (which is what they should have done to make a better game).

I'll admit that I haven't played it for a while and didn't get all that far, so I pretty much know the menu, the other "gamer" you're talking to, and a couple of other things. I could see it getting annoying and distracting though, and I personally can't stand the whole "8-16 bit" look that new games try to implement into the gameplay, so..

but anyway it's really fun. I used to mess around with Wolf3D and stuff and made something similar where the guards would only move when you did, so maybe I'm biased, but I downloaded it based on one picture and had no idea its gameplay differed from any other FPS out there, it was just the prettiest book on the shelf.

That's my backup strategy in all situations
