Good. I wish he had kicked that guy out of the conference. He should revoke access for #fakenews sources like CNN, CBS, MSNBC, and NBC.
He could make their heads spin by only allowing RT access to his meetings.

bac - 2017-01-11

who the fuck is clapping at a news conference?

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-01-11

Those were claps from Fox, MSNBC, and CBS employees you probably heard.

All the major cable news companies are for-profit businesses, and are competitors with each other, and in turn fucking hate each other.

Anaxagoras - 2017-01-11

I like to think that the clapping was a recording that Trump carries around with him at all times to bolster his feeling that the people are with him.

Stopheles - 2017-01-11

It's already been established that Trump had paid staffers in the audience clapping for him.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-01-11

Worse: he's situating staffers in the pool to deny seats to media outlets on his enemy's list.

chumbucket - 2017-01-11

This was a press conference?? Did the matrix get recoded?

Old_Zircon - 2017-01-11

On the off chance that things get as ugly here as they theoretically could, I hope everyone is aware that a few years back Obama's DOJ (with his strong, active support) effectively eliminated the 5th amendment.

So, while you still have a right to remain silent, invoking that right is now legally considered evidence of guilt and is admissible as such in a court of law.

Bort - 2017-01-11

I'd like to see a link on that please.

I see that the Supreme Court did something like you're describing, perhaps that's what you're thinking of?

Old_Zircon - 2017-01-12

Pardon me for the delay, yesterday was my day off so I didn't have access to the book but I checked the citations today.

Salinas v. Texas 133 S. Ct. 2174 (2013)
Set the precedent that if you are not under arrest, declining to answer questions asked by any law enforcement official is legally evidence of guilt and is admissible as such in court of law.

The Obama support may have been overstated I admit, the facts are that Ginger D. Anders (Assistant to the DOJ Solicitor General) advocated on behalf of the DOJ in support of the position that silence is legal evidence of guilt.
http://www.scotusblog.com/2013/04/argument-recap-reading-silen ces-meaning/

United States v. Long 721 F.3d 920 (8th cir. 2013)
Set the precedent that explicitly exercising your 5th amendment rights is legally evidence of guilt and admissible as such in a court of law.

Between the two cases, we got a situation in which if you refuse to answer questions prior to arrest it is admissible evidence of guilt, but if you invoke your 5th amendment rights at any point before or after arrest that is also legally admissible evidence of guilt.

Bort - 2017-01-12

"The Obama support may have been overstated I admit"

It wasn't overstated. It was, as far as I can tell, a complete fabrication that you most likely read somewhere and passed on, and only fact-checked when I pressed you on it.

Why this sort of shit matters: because it's exactly the kind of thing that gets people saying "see, both parties are exactly the same" and sitting out elections and letting ever more Republicans into power. You're doing Sean Hannity's work, but reaching audiences he never could.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-01-11

Well he's not entirely wrong.

SolRo - 2017-01-11

You're entirely shit

blue vein steel - 2017-01-11

Yeah, trump is a disgusting piece of shit, but running a story that you literally have to preface every-time as "unsubstantiated" (the golden-shower part) as news is also pretty shitty.

SolRo - 2017-01-11

Other than buzzfeed, all the news coverage has been of the fact that security agencies thought it was likely enough that Russia has dirt on trump to give a briefing to Obama and trump about it.

That's a legit news story and worth reporting.

If you cant see that, you're smart enough to be a trump voter.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-01-11

I'm flattered that you pay so much attention to me SolRo.

This story is the left's Pizzagate. There are pieces of legit information but the conclusion being headlined is a crock of conspiratorial horseshit.

SolRo - 2017-01-11

You are too dumb to argue with

Cena_mark - 2017-01-12

Trump is just going to call all the news he doesn't like "fake news". Ironically REAL fake news helped him win the election, and he and his dumbass followers will continue to call real news "fake news".

infinite zest - 2017-01-12

Not to mention that Russia wasn't really on the US' radar (at least public) until he mentioned that they had the hacking capabilities and would fuck with the votes; this was when it seemed pretty clear that he was going to lose.

During most of this pre-shitshow shitshow I was incarcerated for 3 months (august-october) and the only news was Fox News, so maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I remember anyway..

yogarfield - 2020-10-29

Time Traveler comment game:

Find the people that were fucking wrong.

Lord_Crocodilicus - 2017-01-11

Buzzfeed and CNN are on the same level at this point, why would anybody waste their time with shit like that?
Fake stories about Trump being a pissbaby just overshadowed Obama's farewell address. Sounds like mission accomplished to me!

Xenocide - 2017-01-11

Regardless of whether or not the Russian prostitute story is true, I think it's impossible to deny at this point that Donald Trump is the world's biggest pissbaby.

SolRo - 2017-01-11

Except its not a fake story, you gullible idiot.

Maggot Brain - 2017-01-11

Did anyone else notice that the seal of the president Elect look like the "DO NOT ENTER" road sign?

This press conference was definitely one of the strangest things I've seen. The president elect eluded to a conspiracy by the media and the security agencies before letting his lawyer talk for most of the time. If you just woke up from coma you'd would have thought that president Elect Sheri A. Dillon was about to step down due to a shady real estate gone wrong.

kingarthur - 2017-01-11

We're watching a war for control of Washington D.C. where every single faction is absolutely fucking bonkers.

Accidie - 2017-01-12

NAILED IT

SolRo - 2017-01-11

60 million are fine with it, a couple million are totally against it but still threw away their votes to protest, and 120 million didn't give enough a shit to vote because politics is boring and everyone is the same and nothing will change etc etc.

Nominal - 2017-01-11

I did not throw away my vote! Just because I have PRINCIPLES unlike all the SHEEPLE buying into two identical equally corrupt parties! Trump getting elected is a good thing because after the country burns, I will emerge from my hidden valley of smart people to lead a renewed left through the ashes!

SolRo - 2017-01-11

Is that a xiphias or a pillager impression?

The Mothership - 2017-01-12

yes, stars for impersonating xiphias.

The Mothership - 2017-01-12

Wait, do you mean xiphias or Xenocide?

Spaceman Africa - 2017-01-12

I thought SolRo was the one that loved Russia.

SolRo - 2017-01-12

I admit I'd find this ironic and a bit funny if I weren't living in the states, but since I'm here I prefer to follow the adage of 'don't piss where you sleep' (unlike certain people)

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-01-11

And yet, I know how to use periods.

;)

SolRo - 2017-01-11

Grammar critique on the internet; how you know when someone lost an argument and is too dumb to make a valid point.

StanleyPain - 2017-01-11

If you are seriously so ignorant and stupid that you are clueless to Trumps years-long dealings with Russian oligarchs and crime lords to pay off his continuous bankruptcies, then you deserve to be fucking curb-stomped.
The man is bought and paid for by Russian interests. What they have on him is probably considerable, and it is far worse than what he does with prostitutes and such.

He is literally laundering money for Russian crime families through his business fronts and his "charities." Why do you think he is trying to set up his sons as the heads of generic charities that are demanding to be the funnels for money without government oversight? This is like organized crime 101 shit.
And that's just the RUSSIANS. God knows what kind of beds he's been crawling into everywhere else. We know he knows considerable amounts of money to Chinese banks which, as per usual, bailed him out of some other financial fuck up.
And then there's what he's doing in Southeast Asia.

The right journalists with the right amount of balls could unravel probably the most extreme story of massive political corruption since Nixon.

SolRo - 2017-01-11

I imagine trump will make Nixon look like an innocent boy scout

Cena_mark - 2017-01-12

But Crooked Hillary is the crooked one. She's so crooked her name is Crooked Hillary.

Binro the Heretic - 2017-01-12

And she personally went to Benghazi and killed those people.

15th - 2017-01-12

Stanley, do you have an article about the Russia stuff? I'd like to read it. Where do you guys read the news? I need a new digital paper...

memedumpster - 2017-01-12

Right now, the FBI has the power to make this something other than a witch hunt, and if they don't actually have the evidence, they're losing the ability to maintain the witch hunt that exists.

Even the leftiest of the lefty left rags agrees, along with Senator Ron Wyden.

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/01/fbi-information-in vestigation-trump-russia-wyden

The article ends with "The American public may never know." If this is the case, the American public should never believe either. "Provide evidence or you're a liar" needs to be printed on our money.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-01-12

I was just responding to a vapid meaningless comment with the same.

Now stop calling me black, Mr Pot.

Nominal - 2017-01-12

I'm almost guessing 8 years at this point. The Dem voter base is hopelessly fractured.

Cena_mark - 2017-01-12

Democrats aren't the problem. It's the dumbasses who vote for Trump. They're so fucking stupid, they think supply side economics will bring their jobs back. They shop at Walmart, watch NASCAR, and like the WWE but are outside the IWC. Fuck them.

Bort - 2017-01-12

Democrats need to outnumber Republicans on Election Day; that means either the number of Democratic votes needs to increase, or the number of Republican votes needs to decrease.

There isn't necessarily much we can do to change the number of Republican votes, and to their credit, Republicans do at least bother to show up and vote, even if they're voting for monsters.

The Left, on the other hand, is so afraid of being "sheeple" that they won't vote unless they can convince themselves their candidate is beyond reproach. They lose elections simply by not showing up, and this is something we could potentially do something about.

Though every now and again, the Left decides it's as simple as just running 400+ "perfect" candidates and that will fix everything!

https://brandnewcongress.org/

For giggles, here is what they are looking for in their candidates:

* They are respected in their communities with a track record of service in their jobs, neighborhoods, religious organizations, charities, etc.

* We can tell from their life stories that they won't sell out in DC, because many of their life choices have put others in front of their self interest.

* They agree with the BNC platform. They need to believe that America already has everything it needs to fix our economy, our healthcare system, our schools and our justice system -- and that we can just do it if we have the political will.

* They are non-dogmatic, optimistic people who believe the American people can build our country by working together. They do not believe in any left wing or right wing silver bullet such as simply slashing government or simply growing government will solve all our problems.

* They do not have any disdain or condescension for any group of Americans and have a high level of empathy.

* They are good at what they do.

* They are trusted by the people they currently serve

* They have, in general, never held or sought public office, though this is not a hard and fast rule.

* They are ideally someone involved in doing work that actually keeps our country going: nurses, teachers, engineers, workers, moms and dads, social workers, veterans, law enforcement, first responders, managers and we could go on and on with this list

* They have the skills that would make them good candidates against experienced incumbents -- they’ve got to be able to talk, and to develop a grasp of all the major issues affecting their district.

* They are a good fit for their district.

So remember: they will agree completely with the BNC platform but will be non-dogmatic, and they will also be a good fit for any district in America. Also they will ideally have no idea what it's like to hold public office but that won't be a problem because they know CPR.

infinite zest - 2017-01-12

Aging Hipster here.. maybe Nation of Ulysses will get back together and make an album called '60,000,000-Point Program to Destroy America..'

I'm claiming it as my own if this doesn't happen in 2 months. Your move, Svenonius!

Binro the Heretic - 2017-01-12

Trump is actually addicted to being an asshole. He couldn't stop if he wanted to and it's only going to get worse as the stress of being President increases.

He's going to be less and less free to do what he wants. He's used to barking and having people jump. Now, he's going to be the one who is told where to go, what to do, when to do it, etc.

If Trump crosses paths with someone he has the slightest bit of power over, he's going to treat them like shit. It's like an alcoholic hitting the bottle in times of stress. Soon, he'll be threatening reporters personally. And I literally mean he'll be threatening to use the power of his office to do them harm.

M-DEEM - 2017-01-12

How will we ever know what the notoriously reserved Donald Trump is thinking if CNN can't get to him?

memedumpster - 2017-01-12

As was foretold, when the Great Orange God bids the Mauve Mavens to piss their golden life water upon the Red Bed of World Bomber's Fatties For Fitness Goddess, I shall arise again to walk the earth!

What the fuck... this isn't Tumblr!

Where's my divine valet? I want to see that prophecy...

15th - 2017-01-12

Welcome back. After the election, I was hoping you didn't go to the store to buy cigarettes and just kept driving.

memedumpster - 2017-01-12

Oh, I totally did.

Then the ghost of Karl Popper appeared to me and said "it's time," taking me on a spirit journey to falsify all my beliefs about myself and the world.

Now I'm worse than ever, and I like it.

bawbag - 2017-01-12

Welcome back meme!

memedumpster - 2017-01-12

Thank you!

How's stuff?

Bort - 2017-01-12

Always glad to have you around, Shitglitter!

bawbag - 2017-01-12

Same old, same old. You?

memedumpster - 2017-01-12

Did some soul searching, still don't have one.

memedumpster - 2017-01-12

Meant to be a reply to memedumpster.
