This is no Turkish delight.

Wasn't the first movie the one where basically a malformed URL somehow leads you inside the CIA mainframe instead just a 404 error?

garcet71283 - 2017-02-05

I thought that turned you into a Freakazoid?

Talk to the Dolphin first. If you hit the 404 you've gone too far.

It was implied that Penn Jillette owned the Internet and ran it from his bedroom.

Old_Zircon - 2017-02-07

I feel like everything in Penn Jillette's career since the early 90s came out of his friendships with the founders of Newtek and Pixar. You can kind of see him spilling over in to television and film from there as those companies grew.

What are the odds that Penn would have known about/gotten hired to be the voice of Comedy Central if he weren't close with the person who invented the hardware they used for all of their motion graphics in the early days, for example? Because there is no way they weren't using video toasters (because we're talking about a budget of thousands per suite versus potentially millions with competing systems) and there's no way they weren't an especially big client for Newtek and there's no way Penn wasn't in the loop.

Old_Zircon - 2017-02-07

I guess I trailed off there, but what I was getting at is that Newtek invented Lightwave 3d, and Lightwave 3d was used in a whole lot of 90s CYBERHACKING movies, and Penn sure did end up acting in a lot of those for a humble stage magician.

They probably also used Renderman on a lot of those productions, and what do you know, Penn was buddies with both of the top guys at Pixar too.

COINCIDENCE?
