I do think Conan does pretty decent interviews but I also agree his sketch comedy and gags are highlights. For me it feels a bit like the aspects of early Letterman that I liked the most. Sending Biff out to do crazy things or dopey moments during the show that Dave acted as if they were mere interruptions to his chi. I think Conan seems to tap that comedy essence a bit.

Based on his Simpsons stuff Conan seemed like this comedy writing genius wunderkind.. It always seemed like such a waste when he got involved with shitty talk shows.
I get that he idolised talk show hosts, Johnny Carson and so on, and wanted to be that. Still, disappointing.

infinite zest - 2017-02-09 Yeah, what's unfortunate is that a good chunk of Conan's current audience probably doesn't remember Pimpbot. This is great delivery of a lame joke whose punchline you can see from a mile away, but it's no match for Irreverent Conan.
