That's Mr. Coffee and Mr. Radar to you, blue vein!

blue vein steel - 2017-02-14 my apologies. Fixed
My favorite part of this scene is probably the shit-eating-smirk on Colonel Sanders' when he points out Mr. Radar.

I regularly employ this reference in the office, and I love doing it because I picture myself as Dark Helmet.
"Now that I have my coffee, I'm ready to meet with students."
"Now that I have my coffee, I'm ready to go to the academic senate meeting."
"Now that I have my coffee, I'm ready to ream that one department chair for being dickish."
"Now that I have my coffee, I can stand being in the same room as my colleague who has the lazy eye and the personality disorder."
Everybody got that?

infinite zest - 2017-02-15
I've expressed my opinion before (I don't DISlike it but it's barely in the Brooks top 10 for me) and have always wondered what I'm missing since smart and clever folks like yourselves love it in the same way that drama geeks love Princess Bride. Maybe that's because I saw this movie before Star Wars? I missed out on Star Wars fever completely by the time I was able to speak, and even if I was old enough, 4-or-so years for a parody after the last film's release seems pretty whack. But I do love Rick Moranis in this, and this is hands-down his cinematic close-up.

infinite zest - 2017-02-15 or maybe "Top 7" since Brooks hasn't directed much, or directed anything since Dracula Dead and Loving it, and Spaceballs should never be ranked anywhere near that piece of shit

Two Jar Slave - 2017-02-15 Yeah, not a big fan of Space all's either, but it's more watchable than Blazing Saddles or Men in Tights.

Old_Zircon - 2017-02-15 Anyway, if you're trying to understand this and Brooks in general, I suggest going back to the early stuff he did with Carl Reiner, like 2000 Year Old Man, and generally looking in to Yiddish theater from the first half of the 20th century, because his sort of willfully clunky, overtelegraphed style is very much part of a long tradition (although one that was already well on its way out by the time Mel started making features).
