Minor fact a lot of people might not know: John K.'s grandfather was a Ukrainian Orthodox priest. Which might, in fact, explain everything.

Yeah, the orthodox go hard.

The religion teacher I had in middle-school(a parish-less orthodox priest) used to beat me with a loose piece of parquet flooring. This wasn't sunday school or anything btw, this was state-sponsored religious indoctrination. I don't know if I should be thankful he didn't molest anyone else (at least to my knowledge.)

So this one time his dad(also a priest, duhhh!) just fucking showed up to the class like he owned the place(he was some big-shot priest in town and old as fuck, but he didn't have anything to do with the school-system).

His dad sat in on the class and just berated us and him at every move for the entire duration of the class. From how he talks to how he orders prayer to how we don't know how to pray properly, to the general lack of discipline. It was awful, but in hindsight it explains a lot.

TL;DR:

The orthodox can go fuck themselves.

My cousin is a weddings and funerals nominal Anglican. He married a Russian Orthodox woman. Now, as an English weddings and funerals nominal Anglican he had a deep cultural need to get married in a church. Which lead to him going with his future spouse to meet a Russian Orthodox priest. The meeting opened with an bearded expatriate Russian priest staring at him for a while before declaring "Marriage is martyrdom" and ended with him being told "If you were Jewish or Muslim we could work something out, but no, it's impossible for you" and advised they were not going to get married in the Russian Orthodox church. Even while telling the story he seemed slightly incredulous about it.
