re-quote; "-sarcastically snooty- "Elections have consequences"! entitled chortle"

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-04-05

Somehow the idea of causality is a great mystery to these people. It must shock and amaze them that the sun rises in the east every morning.

Xenocide - 2017-04-05

"White Trump supporters regret idiotic choices" has become a new genre of news in the last three months.

Coming never: The "here are some minorities who didn't vote for Trump and are also completely fucked" subgenre.

Xenocide - 2017-04-05

"How is that possible in the United States that they can...keep us in here? Lock us in? I didn't understand. I was floored."

HAVE YOU NEVER MET A JAPANESE PERSON YOU DUMB BITCH.

SolRo - 2017-04-05

Is that a rhetorical question?

Or are you actually wondering if the southernest south texas rednecks have met and know the views of many people of different cultures?

M-DEEM - 2017-04-05

Are JAPANESE PERSON unforgiving and joyless enough to get on your team?

infinite zest - 2017-04-05

needs a 'not the onion' tag

Bort - 2017-04-05

I didn't watch the video, did they vote for Trump because of "economic anxiety"?

We're seeing article after article about Trump voters and trying to justify their votes over "economic anxiety". When are we going to start seeing articles about people responsible enough to have voted for Hillary and who are legitimately angry about Trump being in office? I mean, there ARE more of us than Trump voters, you'd think we merited some ink.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-04-05

Yes, as mentioned above, this is a new genre. It's a compelling one two, consisting of equal parts schadenfreude and a head scratching perplexity over how disconnected these people seem from physical reality. I was listening to the Beeb yesterday and they sent some guy out to the heartland to talk to a pig farmer. He was a smart enough guy, make no mistake, and when the reporter started pointing stuff out ( like how much money he lost from the TPP being scuttled, and how will he run his farm without migrant labor ) he could quote a dollar figure. Then the money shot, and the answer was "well someone's got to do something about the deficit". You're laughing now, I know, because Trump's plan is gonna shoot that fucker though the roof, on tax cuts for the wealthy and weapons. I mean, it's not any secret, he's saying these things.

And that's the head scratcher. At the end of the day, they pressed the button for the same reason your dog sits when you blow the whistle. That's what they were trained to do, so that's what they do. The republicans certainly don't have a lock on this, but boy howdy they sure seem to these days. In our race to dystopia, Orwell has once more pulled ahead of Huxley.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-04-05

In fact, I just went over to the Washington Compost for my daily dose, and rolled up on this ripe slice of heaven.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/compost/wp/2017/04/04/eve ry-story-i-have-read-about-trump-supporters-in-the-past-week

She takes the idea, and runs with it in true POETV fashion.

Bort - 2017-04-05

I suppose the answer to my question, like the deal with airline food, is mundane and obvious if you give it a second's thought. You don't run stories on people whose heads are screwed-on straight and are being responsible because there's no story in it. Nevertheless the story ought to be told, because people need a good swift reminder in the ass that they could have forestalled all this.

The Republican pledge to its support base is a simple one: "we will stop the Democrats from giving your hard-earned money to lazy you-know-whos, or privileging the religion of those lunatic you-know-whos over yours, or putting the rights of those immoral you-know-whos over yours". So long as the Republicans stop the Democrats from actually helping anyone, they're keeping their promise.

Alexandra Petri is awesome and I would give her a piggyback ride if she wanted one.

Maggot Brain - 2017-04-05

How does that song go? The one about trying to score dope but ending up in a race riot. They used to play it at the end all of the Trump rallies? How does it go again?

M-DEEM - 2017-04-05

You guys could look at it as now the mexicans are safer from them but you're so miserable and hateful and don't actually care about brown people

SolRo - 2017-04-05

Can we build a wall around your keyboard?

M-DEEM - 2017-04-05

Like you'll ever build anything, sadguy

SolRo - 2017-04-05

sad.

chumbucket - 2017-04-05

goats on fire

Nominal - 2017-04-05

Burning burning with dee-zire!

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-04-05

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.

Goats on fire near the Trumpenfuhrer Gate.

Meerkat - 2017-04-05

For some reason this is making me think of a song but I can't remember which one. Or who it was by. No it wasn't Talking Heads or the B-52's.

OH NOW I REMEMBER it's one of the indy LA bands of the early 90's, spiderbaby's "my goat's on fire"!

Nominal - 2017-04-05

I bet white supremacists like Bannon love the pro (literal) eugenics message of Idiocracy.

Fuck that fucking movie so much.

memedumpster - 2017-04-05

The same social forces that say stupid is genetic and can be bred out also say stupid is caused by poor education and needs more money.

This seems contradictory until you realize they make the distinction based on RACE.

Then it seems Nazi.

SolRo - 2017-04-05

shut up, homer.

memedumpster - 2017-04-05

Yeah, the disappointment seems infectious. I recall a certain country promising a tearing up of a certain treaty and an immediate return to open military engagement to annex Texas, Arizona, and Can't Possibly Be Enough If Not All Of California.

Where's my fucking war, Mexico? Between Mexican companies scrambling to bid on building that wall and a lack of hostile foreign invasion, I guess yet another campaign promise wrecked its craft on the rocky shoals of practicality.

At least build the wall all the way around Texas and Arizona, we can nuke California by accident, if we fucking must.

SolRo - 2017-04-05

shut up, homer.

memedumpster - 2017-04-05

EvilHomer actually treated you a lot better than I do, and showed you far more respect than I feel naturally inclined to show you.

I do feel sorry about that, now that I think about it.

SolRo - 2017-04-05

shut up homer.

TeenerTot - 2017-04-05

Oh noes! Not the golf course! Won't someone PLEASE think of the golfers?!?!

SolRo - 2017-04-05

On the other hand, it may be the only appeal to emotion that would work on trump.

those poor, poor golf courses!

M-DEEM - 2017-04-05

It would probably hurt the people working those courses alot more than the people playing them. Those workers you love so much

SolRo - 2017-04-05

Hey sheltered princess, it's almost guaranteed that most of the workers there are the illegals you hate so much

M-DEEM - 2017-04-05

Hey just trying to help you keep track of who you think you're supposed to be lying about caring about

Also your comment is misogynistic and insensitive to those without shelter. Also people arent illegal. Check your privilege.

SolRo - 2017-04-05

oh noes, I am so conflicted now!

The only person they interviewed that voted for trump said she didn't support the wall. The rest of the story was a decade a old and speculative. I really doubt the wall is even feasible.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-04-06

Americans being notoriously bad at geography, apparently no one realized during the campaign that the border with Mexico is the Rio Grande River. If they build the wall on the American side, we're essentially giving the river away to Mexico, which would be disastrous for American agriculture.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/chapman/ct-mexico-b order-wall-trump-chapman-perspec-0402-md-20170331-column.html

>>>Not only that, but where would we locate it? "The Rio Grande, what side of the river are you going to put the wall?" Zinke asked. "We're not going to put it on our side and cede the river to Mexico. And we're probably not going to put it in the middle of the river." The Mexicans won't invite us to erect the structure on their side. So siting may be a problem.

15th - 2017-04-06

Simple solution- poison the river.
