At least Jaws The Musical (renamed killer giant shark the musical after Spielberg brought out the lawyers) was more of a silly fringe festival parody and not a cash-in.

Man, when a musical based on a song (okay, more like a movie famous because of a song) blows its wad on the opening number you know you're in trouble.

In a perfect world this would be an art experiment where every song in the musical is 9-to-5 and it becomes a test of endurance for the audience instead.
