i, for one, am pro-new MST3k

Scattersane - 2017-04-16

Watched this last night. Honestly enjoyed this bit.

Tom's voice is hard to get used to, and I don't like his flying up onto the screen gimmick, but otherwise I'm digging it. I know nothing about Jonah Ray but I think he's an alright host so far.

+1

I know, for some reason I hate him flying too. It just seems unneeded

i, for one, am an infant. and need to see the same shit run into the ground over and over again.

my identity is a junkyard where nothing is rejected or outgrown

Well, at least you're honest enough to admit what everyone here has known about you for years.

You know at a certain point trolling becomes less about expressing your superiority over others and more akin to plain vanilla bitching.

Scattersane - 2017-04-17

Well. Your comment style certainly supports this statement.

I'm glad some folks are enjoying the new series; I'm gonna check it out when I have time later this week.

But, the idea that the show was "gone"seems a bit off, since it migrated very well in the digital age to Rifftrax. Same crew, no shitty skits, and they can lampoon movies you've actually heard of! I've enjoyed it more than MST3k over the years, to the point that the old show seems to me like an analogue-era beta.

Yeah I never liked the sketches much either- although I was 12 and loved the robot, the space opera stuff was out of place, only occasionally funny, kind of like that weird "population surveillance" theme that came along with UCB TV sketches. It just didn't add anything for me.

smoothw - 2017-04-16

This bit was definitely fun, and the show is as solid as it's ever been, although in age where there is a billion dudes making fun of bad movies it's kinda of baffling that they are going back to prop comic skits.

BillLumbergh - 2017-04-16

this is the whitest shit i've ever seen

Ooof, that new Tom voice...

Xenocide - 2017-04-17

What we need is a crossover between that sketch and this one: http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=105644

But yeah, the new show is far better than I expected. It's got some new touches here and there like the Mads having a house band or Tom being able to float, but they have the good sense to keep those on the down-low and keep focus on what has always made the show great.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-04-17

I'm not allowed to enjoy the hard work of others, because I wasn't personally asked if I gave permission for them to do nice things for my benefit.

NewHeavenSockman - 2017-04-18

i'm not gonna judge the show just based on this sketch but comparing this to the godzilla genealogy bop is not a way to be positive about things

is it correct to assume they're keeping with the rifftrax trend of removing all obscure references in place of easily identified pop culture jokes and sight gags?
