I miss arcade machines in restaurants.

Also this needs a David Caruso tag.

There's a Golden Axe machine at a place with my favorite happy hour burger. I think you can bring kids in before 10PM, but technically it's still a bar.. As far as regular sit-down restaurants go, I dunno if they're the same everywhere but the Old Spaghetti Factory had a pretty decent sized arcade room, with new games like Tekken 2 and shit, but it just looked like a normal old-timey rotten spaghetti factory on the outside. My swim team would go there every night before a meet to carb up, but I usually just got high and went to the arcade.

When I was in middle school around '90/'91 there was a pizza place that still had Discs of Tron.

None of the places in my town had arcade rooms but every sub shop had at least one slightly out of date machine over in the corner by the drink cooler.

If you wanted new games or a wider selection you had the choice of the movie theater lobby (15-20 machines usually), the bowling alley (half a dozen, not so new) or the one family friendly pool hall that was open for about 8 months before folding and being replaced by an army recruiter.

The nearest arcade was at the mall and that was almost 20 miles away.

I was fascinated reading some trivia about the film on Wikipedia. According to the entry the movie was a disaster due to the moral ambiguity of it all. Audiences were shocked and outraged that drug dealing crime bosses were shown in an empathetic light. I mean it's not like this hadn't been done many times before. I guess it may have been how EVERYTHING was a grey area including the police.

Can you imagine going back in time and showing these same audiences the Wire?! Their heads would explode.

I forgot Abel Ferrara made this before he made Bad Lieutenant. "Don't like moral ambiguity, huh?"

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-06-09

The Reagan Bush years were all about moral outrage. Mothers against sharp objects and Federal Boards of Culture Control.

Old_Zircon - 2017-06-09

I forgot Abel Ferrara made this, too!

Honestly it's kind of easy to forget he made anything other than Bad Lieutenant and Ms. 45 Angel of Vengeance. Zoe Lund really brought out the best in him as a collaborator, on his own he can be kind of a grind.

(that obviously doesn't include this one, this movie is fantastic, that's probably why I forgot he made it).

Damn, this movie looks good.

It's really great

I thought it said

'Jimmy Jump Goes Food Shopping for first time'

Which would make sense as he seems to be having difficulties with the concept.
