I was going to start with something about how Ireland, until very recently, was a mostly agrarian society. As in eastern Europe, the awkward rural-to-urban transition is quite noticeable. But then, when the camera panned around the room, I realized that the real story here is that this guy probably has a friend who calls himself his "agent" and that that agent, together with events planner at the care home, got together and did something quite inappropriate.

I blame everything else on Tiesto.

What's more likely is that it's a sit down live bands folk session, and this guy was the DJ between sets. They probably expected it to be just like it is, and did it for the craic, some people, especially the Irish, have a warped sadistic sense of humour.

What I like most is that his clapping isn't in time with the music, which kinda leads me to believe this is fake, in which case, ignore the above statement. If it is the real music, his clapping is hilariously shit.

My mind is completely fried rite naow.

Pretty sure it's real.

Also..

Macbook with no audio interface.. what is he "monitoring"?
No midi interface, using the trackpad to do everything.

I actually think this is fake, though I have seen "dj"s irl that pretty much do this dj equivalent of air guitar.

The audio quality seems too good. Seems fake to me as well.

I dunno... his head bobbing *is* in time.... as is the lady in the crowd "dancing".

Welp, either way, this clip has done my head in.

My sister and her friend did a 90's DJ set with two mac books, and just kept switching a 3.5mm jack between the two and fading the level whenever they needed to unplug/plug it in. I was laughing so hard, then I realised I had Kriss Kross on my phone, so I got to drop that through the 3.5mm output on my phone to like 500 people at a festival.

He's probably running some virtual mixer on his mac book, but I don't know. The sound could be really clear if it was recorded on a zoom, but still, could be fake.

But if the music is fake, the scenery isn't. It's still fucking weird.

Air horn everything

Adham Nu'man - 2017-07-12

What's the point of big noise-cancelling headphones if you're not going to wear them?

cognitivedissonance - 2017-07-12

The only thing missing is a piano key tie and a copy of "Ghost Town".
