Those images are amazing.

Except for the one of the gaping asshole. Note to POEN: That's not a metaphor. Gross >:(

StanleyPain - 2017-07-17

Does it really count as a "failure", though, when the target audience were a bunch of socially broken deviants whose only goal in life is to be disgusting fucktards to each other and anyone else? Sounds like the con turned out precisely the way it was supposed to by attendee standards.

Anagramother - 2017-07-17

This is actually really fascinating to me- because it's being intentionally sabotaged- if not in the destruction of the hotel then by the letter campaign to venues that seems to come from within the community.

Is that bitterness from someone having their extreme kink limited? Sexual frustration from someone who attends but doesn't get attention?

poorwill - 2017-07-17

These people are socially maladjusted and generally just dysfunctional. This type of stuff is inevitable and unavoidable in places they conglomerate.

badideasinaction - 2017-07-17

It's not being intentionally sabotaged in most likelyhood, it's that in any group there's always the evangelists who believe all you have to do it rub stuff in peoples faces and it'll normalize.

The sci-fi cons of old were often swingers clubs hiding in plain sight; I know of early anime cons who had to tightly clamp down on this shit because there were people who wanted to bring that to a new generation. Legend was it was a concerted effort to bring that to furry cons that got them there in the first place.

But yeah, usually the most fervent are the least able to understand tact or boundaries or that they're projecting what they like on other people and assuming they only need to see it to like it too.

badideasinaction - 2017-07-17

addendum - I was talking about the people trying to make it fetish night based on the gallery. Now that I watched the video...

90% chance it's an ex-staffe; when they go rogue they often lose their fucking mindsr. The shit I've seen them do ranges from ratting them out to police/feds to starting rival conventions purely to spite them. I'll bet another local con is being attempted by said ex-staffer for good measure. I can think of about ten conventions that were run (or attempted to be run) as a "you can't kick me out, I'm making my own con with blackjack and hookers" event by staff, vendors or even in one case guests who were booted.

I saw signs of extremism early on in newsgroups not long after I got into Furry, like miniature versions of Nazis and Fascists, harsh attitudes to see when I was first starting out and I wanted everything to be cuddly.

The fight then, in the late 1990s, was between the people who wanted Furry to just remain comics, stories and illustrations, and not bring in mascots, or especially real life things like fetishes into the scene, and make it more of a lifestyle. They were mostly old line producers wanting to sell comics and some newer Furs who aligned with them, and they could get very vocal and write some intense pieces defending their ways. 'I'm doing this in the name of keeping the scene clean, and I fear change'.

This stuff went on and on, and built into groups like Burned Furs and Frozen Furs. I don't know who was really behind those groups, or how serious anything was, but the built-up sentiment and friction was enough to provide support for those groups for a while.

I think it's natural to want to share things you feel passionate about, it's part of the joy and wonder of life, social life, being filled with happiness and wanting to let everyone in on it, and recruiting, in an innocent form, is just wanting to have friends to share an activity with. At the time I wanted to be surrounded by the group and feel the love, after being alone with my Doggie interests for years, that was my need then.

I was always like that since I can remember though, finding something new, barking to people all about it, broadcasting, you've got to check this out, it's amazing!

It was the same with Furry, and to an extreme for a while there, and naturally I wanted to share and have other Furries around me, and early on imagined most Furs had been on the same path I was, inferring it about them just through looking at someone's art or stories.

I don't know about socially maladjusted, people have different ways of reacting to things, but I think that because of the tightness of the scene, you can get caught up in various ways of thinking all too easily and lose perspective. I don't think someone needs to have a mental issue to have that happen, it's more of a social thing that could happen in office politics or with other groups that share a strong interest.

It's a bigger problem in Furry, because collectively Furs tend to feel persecuted to varying levels, for their different interest or a lifestyle that can be so personal, again a natural response of growth, and something we're probably better to work on as individuals, with a few close friends to bounce ideas off of.

I think this social tenet at some point was picked up and capitalized on by some Furry leadership, and made into a 'Furries versus outsiders' world view within the scene, especially for controlling media access to the scene. Look up 'Furries in the media' and you should find many videos on the subject.

It's been effective, but trying to isolate Furries is probably backfiring right now, if there really are that many Nazis and other extremists in the scene. I thought it was a joke when I first heard about it, it fits right into the stereotype of killer clowns, or dolls with knives ready to kill and things like that.

I don't think the problem is individual Furries, who are mostly just folks trying to find themselves and join a group and have a party.

Hey, let's avoid using the term "degenerate" given the current political climate, capeesh?

Sudan no1 - 2017-07-17

there are nazi-furs and alt-right furries. The first group are kinky, the second group are nazis. I guess what I'm getting at is fascists accept the rejects from all corners of society, at least until it's time to get out the long knives.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2017-07-17

I think it's a fair enough description for furries, actually, no matter what the weather's doing outside.

15th - 2017-07-18

Hey, let's not.

rhythm rider - 2017-07-17

i realized I stayed at one of these hotels a few years after one of the cons and it sent shivers up my spine. So, so greasy.

Rafiki - 2017-07-17

Could you imagine an episode of Another Dirty Room after a furry convention?

Spit Spingola - 2017-07-17

Holy crap, this video has 500,000 views after being up like one day. Diaper fetishist furries are pretty popular.

God, I hate the 4chan culture and humor though, especially since they took on this weird right wing bend a few years ago.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-07-17

Yeah, /pol/'s faggotry has really overrun 4chan. It's not like 4chan was ever this great place of high class discussion or anything but it used to be a pretty laid back place to just shitpost back and forth and have fun watching the antics of the occasional crazy fuck who decided to take his online antics too far resulting in real life consequences. There was always comical racism but it was pretty much limited to people spamming Resist.com comics for shock value and everyone laughing at them/making forced memes out of them (bix nood, AROUND BLACKS NEVER RELAX, etc).

But at some point a bunch of retards who didn't catch the irony of it all took it all seriously and decided that 4chan's /news/ board (now replaced by /pol/) would be Stormfront 2.0. Now you can't have a thread without a bunch of "HURR EVERYTHING BAD THAT HAPPENS OR I DON'T LIKE IS BECAUSE OF THE JEWISH CONSPIRACY/HITLER DID NOTHING WRONG! XD" retards shitting things up a quarter of the way through.

Gmork - 2017-07-17

Kinda don't care if we get hit by a superflu. I'll gladly snuff it if people like that snuff it as well.

Caminante Nocturno - 2017-07-17

Modern politics on all sides is full of people who can only see the world through stupid jokes and pop culture shit, even when they're trying to be sincere.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-07-19

The thing I've noticed about /pol/: the typical poltard is Eastern European or hard right Le Pen enthusiast. Very little of it is coming from America. The Bogdanoff/Soros conspiracy nexus is definitely not coming from racists in the Big Square States.

simon666 - 2017-07-17

Looking forward to Rainflorencefest

Caminante Nocturno - 2017-07-17

5 just for the phrase 'diaper-wearing saboteur.'

Kilo147 - 2017-07-19

Yeah, that's one of those phrases that just shouldn't exist, yet here we are.
