The brain tumor is working it's magic!

Two Jar Slave - 2017-07-28

Brain Cancer 2022!!

Bort - 2017-07-28

Dude really didn't like people calling him a coward earlier this week.

Hazelnut - 2017-07-29

I don't care what McCain's motives are, he sure redeemed himself in my book. The war hero took down the traitor and the traitor's enablers; it's beautiful.

Anaxagoras - 2017-07-28

It's kinda irritating how the 2 female Senators who had been steadfast "No"s for quite some time are mentioned almost as afterthoughts, while the showboating waverer McCain comes in & gets most of the credit for the defeat in the media.

"Maverick" my ass.

Old_Zircon - 2017-07-28

They probably just had blood coming out of their wherevers.

Anaxagoras - 2017-07-28

Also, I just discovered that there was *another* Senator currently dealing with Stage 4 cancer who also didn't get any credit for her efforts. Mazie Hirono (D-Hi) has been at rallies trying to protect our care. She voted no. She didn't get a standing ovation.

Grrr. The coverage of this fiasco is starting to irritate me. I think it's time to go outside & enjoy the beautiful weather.

Bort - 2017-07-28

You know who else isn't getting nearly enough credit? EVERY DEMOCRAT WHO HAS BEEN FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT FOR YEARS NOW. They've gotten nothing but bitching from both sides, but that hasn't kept them from trying to help the American people.

jangbones - 2017-07-28

you want to really hate McCain? read his utter bullshit statement about this vote

Chancho - 2017-07-28

Who cares? He did it to punish Trump and that's a wonderful thing.

Hazelnut - 2017-07-29

I agree with Chancho.

Hazelnut - 2017-07-29

Good article on how brave Collins and Murkowski had to be:

badideasinaction - 2017-07-28

So Endeth Repeal and Replace...

...until they call it something different next month.

Old_Zircon - 2017-07-28

There are still a few Hail Mary plays they could do for Repeal and Replace, too.

But yeah, we've got, what, 5 or 6 weeks before we hit a budget crisis unprecedented in modern times?

Old_Zircon - 2017-07-28

Also North Korea just launched another missile this morning, into Japanese waters this time, and our secretary of state is "taking a break" whatever that means.

Maggot Brain - 2017-07-28

"Oh, look, a dead horse!"

SolRo - 2017-07-28

It didn't pass by one vote.

McCain only didn't vote for it because his state didn't get enough bribes in the legislation to buy his vote.

The rest are blithering morons that figuratively wanted to give a gun to the frothing radicals in the house but only if they sort of promised not to shoot the senate in the face with it once they fail to pass something better.

Bort - 2017-07-28

McCain didn't vote for it because people were paying close attention for once, and "the Maverick" was looking like a punk-ass bitch. The only way to preserve his reputation was to do the unthinkable, i.e. the right thing.

SolRo - 2017-07-28

No.

blue vein steel - 2017-07-28

McCain is probably still salty from when Trump said he only like heroes who weren't captured

StanleyPain - 2017-07-28

McCain was totally fine with this shit and violating the entire democratic procedure of the Senate until he woke from his hospital drug stupor long enough to realize no one had kissed his ass enough that day to actually vote yes, so now he's painted as some kind of rogue hero. Fuck this guy.

StanleyPain - 2017-07-28

Also, this bill can still be brought to the floor until December if I recall correctly, so this is not the massive defeat everyone thinks it is. Undoubtedly it will get rammed through eventually once they get the 1 vote they need to avoid the tie breaker. Most people are predicting that it will get dropped so that they don't waste the entire year on this shit, but really what else does the GOP have in their lives?

jangbones - 2017-07-28

well, Trump is done now

poorwill - 2017-07-29

this is bitter sarcasm, right? just checking - it's almost impossible to tell anymore.

jangbones - 2017-07-31

not at all, he failed in getting huge tax cuts to the richest Americans, so his own party will marginalize him now

he'll never get a thing done in office from this point forward, except maybe a few little executive thrashings that will be eventually be eviscerated by any court in America

Binro the Heretic - 2017-07-28

This is like when Vegeta let Cell absorb Android 18 so he could prove how bad-ass he was by kicking Ultimate Cell's ass, except, in this case, Vegeta actually managed to kick Cell's ass!

SolRo - 2017-07-29

I know what you're talking about but I don't know what you're saying.

Bort - 2017-07-29

You make it sound like a solo effort, when in fact there were a total of three Republicans who cast votes for sanity, and more importantly EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT DID THE RIGHT THING LIKE THEY USUALLY DO.

Binro the Heretic - 2017-07-29

SolRo,

McCain voted to let debate on the bill proceed just so he could vote "no" and give a passionate speech about how Congress needs to stop being such assholes.

Bort,

That Democrats voted "no" is not surprising. That ANY Republicans at all voted "no" is almost too fantastical for belief.

Bort - 2017-07-29

Indeed it's not surprising the Democrats voted "no", and that is kind of my point. THEY are the ones who deserve the credit for saving the country, yet again. Three Republicans may have done the right thing just this once, but "just this once" doesn't win my respect.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-07-29

Five beautiful stars.

Hazelnut - 2017-07-29

I agree with Bort up to a point, but: when otherwise awful people do something wonderful, that gets a ton of respect from me.

Hazelnut - 2017-07-29

(Also "otherwise awful" was directed at McCain, I frankly don't know enough about Murkowski or Collins to judge.)

By the way, what kind of coward is that Heller? He was voting against for a while, then Trump publicly threatened him at a lunch and he folded. Does he think that's going to get him Donny's respect?
