Personally the only way I knew about Liddy before I went off to college was because I was fascinated by "Deep Throat", since a fuck theatre down the street from where I grew up held (holds) the record for the longest consecutive running of "Deep Throat." Nixon was something you didn't talk about, at least not in high school in the 90s. There was a kid in my school who carried a briefcase to school and vocally idolized Richard Nixon all through 8th grade. He even wore a Nixon pin sometimes. That was around 1991/92.
