Seems a natural fit to me. Cheap to produce, and probably an infinite moneymaker. If present-day Valve had existed back in 2007, you can bet they'd have cranked out a World of DOTA mmo, and it would've been pretty good too.

Plus, these card games are only fun until you realize how bad your deck is and how much money you'll have to spend to make it good, so the more of them get made the more I can enjoy those first, buttery matches against fellow broke newbies.

Where's my GTA V card game at? Where's my Souls card game at? Where's my Batman: Arkham Card Game at? Throw a Joker pun in the title and we're halfway there, folks. This isn't rocket science.

Yeah besides Overwatch it's been about the same timeline for new Blizzard games, and Overwatch was basically their TF2, so I think this actually just makes things even.

I'm not sure why valve has any "fans" who can get butt hurt like this? It has been quite clear the company has shifted away from new game development for almost a decade. Seems like folks should have adjusted heir expectations a long time ago... for valve to make any new game say like HL3, it would essentially be them pissing money into a hole for no other gain than to make a small subset of nerds happy.

It could just be the company structure of 'do whatever the fuck you want'. From what I understand, most of the people responsible for half-life have already left the studio, and apparently very few big idea creative people remain.

So you have a company of people without leadership doing small things that they're comfortable with and make them happy (and/or make them more money).

Valve will probably not make another big budget standalone game until gabe leaves the company or dies.

People just need to accept that Half-Life 3 is never going to happen, unless Hell freezes over and Valve goes bankrupt/sells the franchise to someone else. They make way too much money monopolizing PC video game marketing via Steam to care about developing actual games anymore.

Besides, at this point it's been so damn long since HL2:Episode 2 that you may as well reboot the entire franchise if you want any hope at all at continuity. Either way, if by some miracle Hell does freeze over and HL3 does happen, it's not going to be what everyone wants because the team who made HL and HL2 moved on a long time ago. Marc Laidlaw (the writer of the series) literally got old waiting for Valve to announce HL3 and decided he wanted nothing to do with them anymore because he was getting too old for their shit.
