this man is clearly severely effected by flavors of any kind, as the mere smell of peppers irritated his nose, so subway is the only place he can safely eat.
I used to work as a manager for the distribution firm that supplies Subway in the Northwest. A major part of Subway's demographic are people on a medical bland diet. They can reliably go there and know that if they order something, it's not going to upset their constitution. But, of course, Subway's marketing can't say "WE'RE BLAND!" So instead, they heavily provide coupons and material to doctors that pass them on to their patients.
