cognitivedissonance - 2017-09-08 One word: syndication. Getting to that magic 52 episode mark means royalty checks forever. Things are opening up with streaming, but prior to the internet, only UHF PBS stations were airing BBC comedy, but every channel had "Three's Company" and "All in the Family", and the British show runners saw a kickback from those translations. If you can get a 52 episode syndication package, you're on every TV in the industrialized world.
