Susan Sarandon? Really?

garcet71283 - 2017-09-10

So...Richie Rich goes to Hogwarts and buys a Gundam?

garcet71283 - 2017-09-10

Oh, and sits under the tanning booth for too long.

Stars for evil.

tesla_weapon - 2017-09-10

I have never wanted to not watch something more than this.

StanleyPain - 2017-09-10

This is basically like if those hundreds and hundreds of teen weebs who make shitty fanimations and shit on DeviantArt on YouTube using Windows Movie Maker suddenly had millions to just pay someone else to make it for them. It is literally that.

infinite zest - 2017-09-12

The History of Western Entertainment now in convenient smaller size.

BHWW - 2017-09-10

There is something really off about the artwork, like watching an animated version of one of those American comics from the 1980s that attempted to emulate manga styles, like all of those tie-in comics for Robotech or Star Blazers and such from publishers like Comico or Eternity

or that one comic book I've seen about a teenage martial artist called "Shuriken".

and a lot of one-offs and other (justly so) obscure titles. Just something really off in the approximate but not really good imitation.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2017-09-10

I have three issues of Shuriken. I'm not proud of that.

The mid-1980s "international manga" boom has the excuse of being part of a niche market hungry for content similar to what North America ported over from Japan. This is Jaden Smith weebing it up long after the portover market collapsed, rebuilt itself, found its level and currently feels out what sort of a future it can scrounge out in streaming options. The timing can't be worse for a show like this.

infinite zest - 2017-09-10

Looks like The Boondocks animated series to me. Well except the one was actually pretty good. The Bookdocks one.

Quad9Damage - 2017-09-10

I mean there are worse things you can do with daddy's fuck you money.

Worse than inserting yourself in American anime where you throw Kamehamehas and weapons grade autism and shit.

Surely.

betamaxed - 2017-09-10

I mean this is bad but there's worse out there. Anime could use more melanin.

Quad9Damage - 2017-09-10

Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water.

SolRo - 2017-09-10

Gangsta

MyNameIsUnimportant - 2017-09-10

Let's be honest here; this is what ALL anime looks like.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-09-10

Jason Schwartzmann has never seen a royalty check from an unnecessary vanity project he wasn't thrilled to cash.

Ugh - 2017-09-10

she's possessed

that sucks

infinite zest - 2017-09-10

I cancelled my Netflix about a year ago and it's probably the best decision I've made in about a year.

bongoprophet - 2017-09-11

Bojack Horseman s.4 just dropped tho. Compensates for this.

And I mean, Ezra Koening has enough goodwill from me to compensate for this too. Modern Vampires is one of the best albums the last 10 years.

Quad9Damage - 2017-09-12

The only way to watch any fucking movie you're ever interested in is with the DVD plan. Netflix throttled the shit out of that. Turnaround for a disc used to one business day. Then it was three, then a week. I cut it out. Phasing out physical media seems to be Netflix's ultimate goal; they're just waiting for the customers to finish jumping ship. Meanwhile, they are throwing all their resources into streaming, which seems smart until you realize the majority of what's on there is the original programming. A third of it's good, the rest is shit. The major studios are pulling their content licenses and forming their own paid streaming services.

I'm thinking Netflix either dies in the next 5-10 years or goes through serious restructuring.

infinite zest - 2017-09-12

Yeah my girlfriend likes Vampire Weekend and I can't complain; it's like there were other people out there like myself who thought "Sandanista" was the best Clash album. And agreed about Bojack. Personally I thought the 3rd season got a little too "meta," "zeitgeisty," whatever hipsters wanna call it out as but it's still probably the best animated show out there right now.

THE best animated show out there right now, Morty. Prob--*belch*--ably

Maggot Brain - 2017-09-10

This makes we depressed. Not as depressed as Jaden Smith but depressed none the less.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-09-10

Created by the lead singer of indie band Vampire Weekend.

infinite zest - 2017-09-12

General rule of thumb, "Created by the lead singer of" is never a good combination of words for anything unless it's followed immediately by "new album/song"

Spaceman Africa - 2017-09-12

still more watchable than bojack horseman
