Monkey Napoleon - 2017-10-02

"Waahhh the violent reactionary group I have ideological similarities to is portrayed unfairly."

Calls white supremacists nazis.

SolRo - 2017-10-02

Did your supremacist feelings get hurt?

Bobonne - 2017-10-02

Monkey Napoleon, there is only one thing left for you to do. You know what it is.

SolRo - 2017-10-02

Jesus Christ don't say that to the Nazi gun nuts!

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-02

>>>"Waahhh the violent reactionary group I have ideological similarities to is portrayed unfairly."

By "ideological similarities" do you mean being again fascism? The problem with being unfair to antifascism is that the other side of it is MAKING EXCUSES FOR FASCISM, which is what the President of the United States did after Charlottesville. This video is an unusually detailed discussion about a false, fascist-friendly narrative, and how it gets pushed. In other "some news" videos, this guy makes a detailed, compelling case that Trump is literally a fascist.

Fascism in the United States is a thing now. We need to talk about it.

So where's the moral
When people have their fingers broken?
To be insulted by these fascists is so degrading
And it's no game.

-David Bowie

Monkey Napoleon - 2017-10-02

Classy. Say, what's to stop me from bringing up hurtful things I know about you in a personally insulting and evil manner, if that's how you're going to treat me?

And I'm a white supremacist for knowing enough about the relevant ideologies to point out that nazis =/= white supremacists =/= facists? They ONLY similarities are the bigotry, and that's not even necessarily always true.

What about white supremacists who want their own segregated euro-ethnic state thing? There's a LOT of those guys, and they don't advocate violence of any kind. They just want a place to go be racist in peace, which you'd be hard-pressed to make a logical case for why they shouldn't be allowed to.

This is Cracked, so it's already kind of bottom tier commentary, but it's crazy how in a piece about misrepresentation of a group HE ADMITS IS SHITTY he goes on to call right wingers nazis. If this is the level of debate in politics the left is willing put forward, they deserve the extinction that's coming for them.

SolRo - 2017-10-02

Monkey is too stupid to understand that even shitty people are still saints compared to white supremacist Nazis.

Ninehells - 2017-10-02

See, there you go. I want to give you the benefit of the doubt, to see you as casting divisive politics in a different light, trying to cultivate a broader understanding of why this country has reached this point. Then you keep talking.

Gmork - 2017-10-02

Your math is off, Monkey Nap.

nazis =/= white supremacists =/= facists

You're saying nazis are not equivalent to fascists. The national socialist party of 1940's germany was fascist. So, not sure why you said that.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-02

>>>nazis =/= white supremacists =/= facists

This reminds of those guys who indignantly reply "I"M NOT AN MRA, YOU RETARD, I"M A MGTOW!!" I'm sure that if you're a white supremacist, a nazi, or a fascist, the difference means a lot more to you than it ever will to the rest of us.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-02

(But I'm not saying that MonkeyNapoleon is a white supremacist. I don't even know if he's white.)

I know there's a lot of people who hate Cracked for reasons no one ever explains (and I don't ned to know), but come on, even if you don't like it, the bottom tier of youtube is WAY below this.

infinite zest - 2017-10-03

The reason people don't like Cracked is because they're just remembering it as a MAD Magazine rip-off, which to a degree I understand.* However it hasn't followed that formula for at least a decade, probably more. At this point it's like not trusting a review or article posted on The Onion's AV Club because one thinks it's just a joke like The Onion itself or Clickhole. Oh yeah and fascists fuck off.

*I actually owned (probably still own) WAY more Cracked than MAD from when I was a kid, because unlike MAD's covers' promises, Cracked was actually "Cheap!"

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-03

Yeah, I remember Cracked, the unfunny off-brand MAD from my childhood. it's been around forever, meaning almost as long as I have. The logo on the videos looks similar, but nothing else seems at all related to that.

Monkey Napoleon - 2017-10-03

*I* don't like Cracked because they're one of these media sources that leverages that lack of scrutiny stemming from being a "humor" site to pass off poorly researched misinformation as fact. Before around 2010, they didn't used to be quite so bad, and then something must have happened behind the scenes that kicked them into full retard.

They also have a bit of a Buzzfeed vibe going on, in which they create content like this that you can *almost* buy coming from a good place unless you've spent any amount of time browsing their other content... after which you realize that a video like this doesn't get produced by them if it isn't relatively safe "trending topic" ad revenue fodder. They have a definite click-baity thing happening with the majority of their content.

This is extra-galling when a video or "article" pops up that is a poorly couched condescending lecture to some segment of the population that isn't even necessarily in the wrong. If antifa doesn't want to be labelled as the bad guys, maybe they shouldn't be labeling half the country fascists to justify violence against them. Maybe they shouldn't be trying to portray themselves as arbiters of justice when what they really are is anarchist reactionaries.

Anyway, the Cracked thing has been explained to you, specifically, before. We had a HUGE thread about it under another video a year or two ago. It's garbage content from a really disingenuous clickbait site that serves no purpose other than preaching to it's choir of facebook activists.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-03

WHAT FUCKING VIDEO ARE YOU WATCHING?

I just watched this again. Nothing about this video is a full throated defense or endorsement of antifa. It's often critical, and makes no bones about supporting legal consequences for antifascist violence and property diestruction. Mostly, it's about how the supremacists and the dog-whistlers are more media savvy than the antifascists, and how that plays out. It's also about a pattern of terrifying anti-protest legislation happening in the states, which I didn't know about it.

And it makes the point, less directly, that antifascism is way way WAY bigger and more important than the actions of these protestors that are getting so much attention. It's the right that keeps playing up that term "antifa", and that ties anyone who uses antifascist rhetoric to a handful of militants.

There are accounts of these protestors defending others that paints some them in a favorable or even heroic light. But never mind that more nuanced truth. They're not equivalent to fascism.

Five Things Monkey Napoleon Can Do With His Time by Cracked Writer Unit #6543

When I was a washed up drug addict eating my cake and having it to, I realized I was a middle-aged loser and needed to change, so I wrote this article for Cracked to show I am more adult than you. On the topic of Trump, I, like everyone else, huddled into a bunker on election day and prayed to Satan to kill every good person in the world in trade for making the bad heart hurt go away. Satan failed us, and Monkey Napoleon is a name I heard later to make me angry enough to get $200-$600 grownup dollars to write about it on Cracked. So without further adieu, and the editors can insert a joke here before posting, here is Five Things Monkey Napoleon Can Do With His Time by Cracked Writer Unit #6543.

1.) The thing about being a middle-aged drug addict in a Trump world is that I am never responsible for my own problems, and Monkey Napoleon, a name I heard once, needs to get me that money. So number one, to recap, is I need that money for the drugs I swear I don't do anymore and hating Monkey Napoleon is the way. Cracked pays just enough for an article to maintain my addiction.

2.) *editors please copy paste my number 4 point in my other article, "why I did drugs my whole life and am smug and proud of it, but you shouldn't unless you want to be a loser" here for this article, adding the words "monkey napoleon" to it in a way that seems to fit my outrage*

3.) Third, once you start writing for Cracked, you will find that the extra income can be spent on higher quality "food" and "health care," which, without Donald Trump and Monkey Napoleon, would never be available to my drug dealer through me. So remember, writing for cracked because Monkey Napoleon click here to win do you know your tax score.

4.) Historically, fascism always arises when other fascists don't kill them first, and once I up again, I will write a long nuanced section about how this is Monkey Napoleon's fault. Save this spot for future editing before submitting to Cracked... is what I said before the deadline!

5.) Not feeling it, uh, kill yourself? Cha-ching!

So to recap, I needed money indicative of someone with no capacity for even squalor level income generation, so wrote this article for Cracked. I hope the Monkey Napoleons of the world learned their lesson : I will say anything when I need money.

Check out my next article "God Damn Am I Better Than You Or What?"

Defending Cracked is way worse than defending the horseshoe of fascism under any context. One day nazis and antifa ("nazifa" in Brangelina relationship terms) will march together in the streets to end Cracked, and then Jesus will come back and approve of it.

Spike Jonez - 2017-10-03

I guess when you're a fucking nazi, you get butthurt about people making fun of your friends.

15th - 2017-10-03

I guess when you have cooties you're a butthead.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-03

I don't hate Cracked, and I don't hate Monkey Napoleon either, and I think it's weird as fuck that I feel compelled to explain this.

I like some of Cracked, and some of it is just too impossibly pop culture nerdy for even me. I avoid anything to do with Star Wars.

bawbag - 2017-10-03

"acthually they're white identitarianth! They don't even have hugo bosth uniformth! Heaventh to murgatroyd!" 😂

5 stars for yet another of Manky Lardboreon's hugely-constipated apologias for nazis. Weird how that keeps happening huh? 🤔

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-03

>>>Defending Cracked is way worse than defending the horseshoe of fascism under any context.

I disagree.

Fezren - 2017-10-02

Viewing this video as an ironic satire of conservates complaining about media misrepresentation in 2015-2016 elevates it far beyond the poorly composed spoken-word blog post it may appear to be on the surface.

M-DEEM - 2017-10-02

This guy's delivery reminds me of that terrible shrew that lost that big election to orangepig. You're not Jon Stewart

Please spend another 20min explaining how it's possible for a group of people to take something so virtuous and agreeable as "we hate fascism" and make it so unsexy and unappealing that the first twenty minutes was necessary.

SolRo - 2017-10-02

If hating fascists were all it took, WW2 would have been much simpler.

M-DEEM - 2017-10-02

You're right. Took lots of guns to win WW2

SolRo - 2017-10-02

I'm all for only the army having guns.

Glad you agree with me.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-02

I'm not getting a sense that these people are watching the same video. I'm seeing a practical brass tacks dissection of Republican propaganda, and how the mainstream media is falling for it. If anybody knows of a more detailed or better documented discussion of this issue, please post it.

M-DEEM - 2017-10-03

I dunno if it's just the media though. It's been painful to watch street level antifa 'debates' or have them try to answer simple questions about their ideology with out major contradictions such as "fuck the government but only the government should have guns"

SolRo - 2017-10-03

yeah, watching strawmen argue must be painful.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-03

>>>I dunno if it's just the media though. It's been painful to watch street level antifa 'debates' or have them try to answer simple questions about their ideology with out major contradictions such as "fuck the government but only the government should have guns"

As far as I know, "fuck the government but only the government should have guns" is not a statement anyone would make. Personally, I think the NRA are assholes, but I reluctantly support the second amendment.

Again, this has nothing to do with the argument made in the video, which takes pains to be critical of antifa. You know, I post comments without seeing the video all the time, but they're not about the video, they're about the topic. I don't want to come as emotionally invested in this video I submitted, but I think it elevates the debate, and you're all missing it. It's moderately funny, though the deadpan humor is more like old Chevy Chase than Jon Stewart or anyone else doing this right now, but it's also a lecture. One reason why it's not all that funny is that it's a nuanced, complex argument with precisely defined terms, and documented facts.

(I'm going to watch this again right now, and make sure if I'm willing to to stand by this statement)

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-03

This absolutely works if you imagine the guy from the video reading it. I'm going to assume that memedumpster intended this, so good one, memedumpster? WHAT? NOW I'M DOING IT?? WHAAT????

Full disclosure: I would totally have gay sex with the guy in the video, even though he looks like young Windham Earle. Because he makes such nuanced points.

exy - 2017-10-04

The guy's main point seems to be that the MSM is bending over backwards not to call anybody racist when they're obviously racist trolls, and that strikes me as being pretty accurate. These comments are just gravy... gravy that's been sitting out a little too long, but gravy.

"Not Nazis" is technically true, but it's mainly a linguistic shield for the Not-zis to obfuscate their goals. There, how's that: can we meet in the middle and call them Notzis?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-10-04

Hey! Someone saw the video!

Summing something up is, of course, reductive by definition, but that's a real good summing up.

The reason why satire and comedy news has become so important is because, for a whole lot of reasons, it is more comfortable taking these kind of necessary positions. Seth Myers and Stephen Colbert aren't really that funny any more, but I'll watch them anyway because THEY CAN GO THERE. In this kind of dangerous, toxic climate, satire is oxygen.
