Boomer The Dog - 2017-10-19

I just had to check this out, and there he is, another Boomer sighting! This comes three weeks after finding Boom in an episode of CHiPs, for 2 seconds in one of their 'cavalcade of stars' bits (episode with Milton Berle).

I hadn't known Boom was on Pink Lady, but Boom and Pink were in the same NBC show promos,

Here's Boomer, Facts Of Life, Pink Lady.

Quick note for Here's Boom fans, DVDs are out for Europe, see it here on my page:

Boomer, are you psychic? How do you appear whenever a dog related video is posted, but otherwise post nothing? You are fascinating and wonderful.

It's just luck, and betting on which video might have something Boomery in it. I knew about the Pink Lady and Jeff connection for a long time because of the NBC promo video, so when I saw that it was name recognition and I clicked.

I try to check PoeTV regularly enough to catch all of the videos before they drop off. Sometimes I miss them, but as luck would have it I caught this.

I want to see Boom's whole segment on this show!

Jeff Altman’s biggest role was as Boss Hogg’s nephew.

I used to have the entire series on DVD. It was absolutely painful to try to watch an entire disc in one sitting.

The head writer was Mark Evanier, who earlier worked as a production assistant to Jack Kirby.

I'm just saying Pink Lady and Jack was the better prospect, but you know, network television.

Pink Lady and Jeff were among a ill conceived line up that ripped off successful ABC shows. Supertrain's opening credits are near identical to Love Boat's and Pink Lady tried to recreate the popularity of Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour. When you're number three among the three networks and your only primetime presence was Gary Coleman, I guess you get a little desperate.

I need to rip my Pink Lady and Jeff DVD's again now that you can upload longer clips on Youtube.

Please do!

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2017-10-20

It wasn't just Fred Silverman ripping off shows he greenlit at other networks. NBC had its 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics coverage rendered almost worthless by the US boycott. Johnny Carson had a lawsuit with NBC over his contract, Saturday Night Live ran its natural course before zombifying, and David Letterman was given a daytime slot because space age meats.

NBC greenlighting shit out of desperation is one thing. NBC hoping things like Pink Lady would SAVE THE NETWORK is that most fun kind of desperation, which doesn't happen too often.

Supertrain didn’t help. They didn’t have a success after Supertrain until Seinfeld.
