Disclosure: I was in this guyā€™s church for the majority of my childhood. I learned a healthy disregard for Christian piety, and Ruckman was key to that. He had no love for it either. Swore like a sailor out of the pulpit.

Dude could draw, he played the drums, he was obsessed with the occult, numerology and the Apocolypse, he was very close to Jack Chick, and he would throw gummy bears at kids who were ignoring his sermons.

Like, if there was ever a *cool* preacher, Ruckman was him. Never a whiff of scandal, just a guy who made enemies with what he considered ineffectual moderates. I remember once he had a plan to pretend he was converting to the Church of Satan to get publicity and prove his theories about the perpetal salvation of the soul.
