Guess we read the same medium piece at the same time, didn't see this when I submitted mine. Skynet tag?

SolRo - 2017-11-08

And none of you twits noticed this when you were spam submitting Johnny Johnny videos.

It took a thinkpiece in medium to get you to see it.

You've all become middle-aged.

yogarfield - 2017-11-08

re-up:

Nah, I've actually noticed these popping up in incognito browsers as well.

Serious question: Do you ever get dizzy? It must be hard to be a human pendulum swinging from valid points to utter asininity.

SolRo - 2017-11-08

I try my best to be validly asinine.

yogarfield - 2017-11-08

Haha. Love you babe.

Old_Zircon - 2017-11-08

This stuff predates Youtube, I used to buy DVDs of these kind of cartoons for $1 each in Chinatown (Boston and NYC).

They've evolved spectacularly on Youtube but the DNA was already there.

somedongus - 2017-11-08

Done. Did you find the article on Bo perchance?

yogarfield - 2017-11-08

Nah, I never really go there. I saw it linked a few different places, decided to dive in.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2017-11-08

OZ, upload some of those.

Raggamuffin - 2017-11-08

although the Medium article is overheated and paranoid (asserts that these videos amount to a mass conspiracy of child abuse), I liked thinking about bots that are not just making or helping to make these videos but also driving up the views. Particularly with regard to the videos acted out by real people.

Keywords trending because of bot views. People making videos guided by keyword trends. People are making videos to entertain bots.

An important piece of the puzzle is that these videos get hits from the little fingers of very small children who are being babysat by devices on which these videos appear after the ends of videos as recommendations. Hence, the gain 'popularity'and become more likely to appear. It's a 'garbage in garbage out' that brings to mind the existing concept of an AI instructed to make paperclips ultimately turning the entire universe into them simply by following the only command it's been given. (This, by the way, is now a game: http://www.decisionproblem.com/paperclips/ )

yogarfield - 2017-11-08

Paperclips is a fun afternoon that ends with a whimper.

5 for evil.

I see this as an evoutionary step, like the keyword spam to fool google searches and AltaVista back in the day. Eventually it will reach a tipping point where people will migrate to another platform or stop using it completely.

Uninstalled and blocked YT on all my kids devices until this gets sorted.

Remeber when poetv started and videos.google still was a thing, man youtube was cooler back then

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2017-11-08

That was great! Kids are dumb.

Adham Nu'man - 2017-11-08

The future is fucking stupid.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-11-08

Every single one of these bizarre fucked up kid youtube videos has Spider-man and Elsa in it. Why?

SolRo - 2017-11-08

they're respectively the favorite characters of every 5 year old boy and girl.

there are no exceptions.

That should be the real story.

boner - 2017-11-09

Vaguely dreadful, although poetv is better suited to Indian videos of babies singing the n-word.

BiggerJ - 2017-11-09

There was an AI made of dust
Whose videos gained it kids' trust
If 'is' follows 'ought'
It'll do what they thought
In the end

we all do

what

we

must
