It's a very fair point, Trump didn't carry these states, but the blue-ification of Virginia is a very worrying trend for Republicans if it pushes forward. That's a state that SHOULD NOT EVER be electing Democrats, let alone trans heavy metal guitarists.
The demographic changes we're seeing in Virginia are going to be reappearing in any of the better-off South and Midwest. If trends continue (they never do) in 50 years the last Republicans will be some isolated inbred swamp family.
Don't know if you're sincere or not, but that whole coquettish teasing "maaaybe we're Klansmen maaaybe we're not" is likely what lost them Virginia. Which is to say they lost because they deserve to.
So wait, is there some kind of connection between voting and winning? Has anyone done a study about this? Because it seems like it could change everything!
The other difference is that women are voting their self-interest in larger numbers. Why they didn't in 2016 I'll never understand, but I applaud the change!
The next Ross Perot will not be allowed to get past the House. Steps will be taken to remove/isolate outsiders from the establish party hierarchy before they ever get to that point.
We're in for at least a generation of hard and swift return to Tammany Hall.
Waiting for Chris Hayes and Glenn Greenwald to weigh in on how transgender women and a civil rights lawyer winning seats in a state government is actually something something neo-liberal facism something something but what about Hillary something something REMEMBER THE NSA!!!!
