Rifftrax has done the entire 1949 serial.

"Gentlemen, we will steal an advanced prototype aircraft. Oh no, that didn't work. We will steal the plans for it instead. No? We will seize control of a radium mine then. No? I know, we will rob the local bodega, that will surely succeed. No … ?"

I love this serial.

1.) The narrator is unashamedly racist.
2.) Bruce Wayne is a dick.
3.) Batman uses Robin as a decoy constantly, getting him beat up.
4.) Because it's a serial, Batman gets his ass kicked at the end of each episode.

I know I mentioned it in the description, but how about that fake "Japanese" mastermind and his fake accent.

According to rumours about this serial, the original villain was supposed to be the Joker but this being war time and partly funded by the government they asked for a more Axis aligned mastermind for Batman to fight. However, they kept the sets to save costs (always a concern for a movie serial) so that's why the villain's hideout is under an amusement park ride.

But I love old movie serials and this one is in my top ten.

Wow, I have been seriously outnerded! Well played, sir or madam! Take these stars with my complements!

The serials were the great-granddaddy of just about every form of movie and television show that nerds like me hold dear.

By the way, I saw JUSTICE LEAGUE last night. I know some people were disappointed. If you grew up with Frank Miller and... Yeah, I can't name a second one, it must suck for you. I grew up with Adam West and George Reeves. Try to think of it as a 21st century serial.

The Avengers battle over a cube-shaped object that represents unlimited power. The Guardians of the Galaxy battled over a sphere-shaped object that represented unlimited power. Redundant? I prefer to think of the geometrically perfect macguffin as an "archetype".

Oh, I forgot to mention, the Justice league are chasing THREE cube-shaped objects.

It was very bad JHM but I'm glad someone enjoyed that absolute pile of dreck.
