Interestingly centrifugal force does apply: apparent gravity at the equator (where the centrifugal force is strongest) is 0.3% less than it would be if the Earth were not spinning. So I guess this dude is 0.3% right?

Raggamuffin - 2018-01-29 the most frustrating thing is that he comes so close to disproving his own point. At around 7:00 he talks about the scale of the experiment and absolutely everything he says about the rotation speed is right.
If he only just knew a tiny little bit of math he'd be able to scale it correctly (at the risk of looking like a dummy, I make around 1 rotation every 2.16 seconds with the back of the envelope and a couple assumptions), and the water would barely move if at all.

Anyway, brother has a nice model and all, which is a great way to bootstrap yourself into something where the math is too heavy, but he's neglected a key point. The gravitational force vector in his analog model is pointing along the rotational axis of the sphere. On the real earth, it's normal to every point on the surface. This completely changes the expected effect and invalidates his model.
