My favorite bit of trivia about this movie is that Tom Waits thinks it was directed by Tim Burton.

I liked this film all right.

I always thought the movie was a let down. Not that it didn't have it's fun or memorable moments, but it just never took full advantage of its own absurdity. They took Bob Burden's world and jammed it into a pre-molded "losers become winners" script and loss a lot of the Flaming Carrot spirit.

I really couldn't get behind this movie, partly because Ben Stiller was in it, he was already irritating me at the time though this was before a lot of his movies where he played easily flustered dorks who get easily flustered. Besides that, it did indeed feel a little too much like yet another tale of a team of goofy underdogs who manage to triumph, a touch too formulaic.

I haven't seen it since I saw it in theaters, but I remember liking it. I remember walking out not feeling like I'd wasted my money or anything.
