The worse 2018 polling gets for republicans the higher the chance of a new war.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-02-15

The good news is we will be able to bond when we have to scrounge for food in garbage dumps after the Koreans destroys electricity with an EMP attack.

I'll make sure that if I find a chihuahua to eat I will share it with you, brother. We'll fry it up and remember the good times together.

cognitivedissonance - 2018-02-15

North Korea is a lot like Dwarf Fortress. A properly built dwarf fortress has zero problems surviving a siege for entire decades at a time. The problems come from inside: infrastructure that falls apart, morale breakdown, or accidentally tunneling into Hell.

kingofthenothing - 2018-02-15

When a dude uses a phrase like "blood and treasure" and it's not D&D related and he's completely serious, you pay attention.

So, thanks for the grim look into the future.

infinite zest - 2018-02-15

I was watching at work with the captions and figured it was the CC being funny, but.. shit. Here, have my Overwatch lootboxes, Korea.

Space Odin - 2018-02-15

I'd like to see what happens to peoples' precious balance sheets if we do go to war, Seoul gets zapped by a suicidal NK and Samsung gets wiped off the map and erased from the global supply chain.

You think the last couple recessions were bad?

memedumpster - 2018-02-15

"Samsung gets wiped off the map and erased from the global supply chain."

I admire your ability to see the good in bad things.

memedumpster - 2018-02-15

Can we get a video like this for every nation on earth, since we're apparently in the market for a new source of pointless fear, post-Russia?

What a War With North Ireland Would Look Like
What a War With Belgium Would Look Like
What a War With Romania Would Look Like
What a War With Texas Would Look Like
What a War With Thailand Would Look Like
What a War With Iraq Would Look... moving on.
What a War With Liberia Would Look Like

M-DEEM - 2018-02-15

Still not scared, assholes!

6 mins of "there will be bloodshed on a scale not seen since the last war". No shit, thanks Vox.

If it's men in uniform using conventional military hardware (aka actual targets) we're fighting why wouldn't we end up knocking their dicks in the dust like it's gulf war 2?

Lol at 3:50. "A guy with anthrax, in like, a garden sprayer could like totally wipe out a whole city dude *bong rip*"

I guess these people have to justify their jobs.

SolRo - 2018-02-16

Dumb chickenhawk americans keep thinking their enemies are just artillery targets standing out in the middle of a scrubland desert waiting for a bomb to hit them.

Dumb fucks like m-deem are the ones that start wars thinking they'll only last 2 weeks and that only enemy soldiers will die. also will be greeted as liberators.

memedumpster - 2018-02-16

The joke is, if anyone wants to make a video called What A War With The United States Would Look Like, you'd have to look up the Nazis to find stock footage that competes with us in the top tier of pure violent horror.

Fear is the only war America loses without meaning to.

SolRo, while I totally agree we'd lose the shit out of a war with North Korea, I disagree that it wont be on purpose to destabilize our economic rivals. We don't start wars to destroy our stated target, we have a real secret target we Dick Cheney quail hunt instead. If you're on the North American continent, you're safe (unless the war is unpopular, then a few missiles might "accidentally" slip through). And yeah, you describe our enemies exactly, because they are not soldiers, but economic rivals and the civilians that power them. We don't fight wars with other militaries, we use our military to target everyone else around them.

That's why we're so close with Russia, we both do the same shit, often together.

Honestly, the idea that a nation could destroy our War Empire against our will is just too damned optimistic for my cold, flinty heart. I admire it though, and want you to continue preaching it. Maybe after the bitcoin collapse of the global economy, our card can be pulled. Until then, nah, the equator will run red with the world's blood like Hell's own storm gutter first.

M-DEEM - 2018-02-16

But colonel porkchop and friends said it would be tanks and artillery and ground troops. I'm glad that one dude pointed out at 2:50 that Pyongyang would fire it's missles into Seoul and then in turn Seoul would fire it's artillery and missles into Pyongyang. WOW. DEEP.

Cena_mark - 2018-02-16

Major population centers in South Korea including Seoul are within range of conventional artillery. So even if the war was short, it would still be extremely devastating. That's why it's easy for Trump to rattle Kim's cage, but that rattling makes the South Koreans extremely uneasy.

M-DEEM - 2018-02-16

Fair enough but if South Korea can offer us unbeatable cash back and 10 year 100000 mile limited drivetrain warranty on the all new 2019 kia sorento certainly we can offer them devastating support from the air and sea. It's what friends are for

memedumpster - 2018-02-16

SolRo, I decided to give you some scare numbers to look for in what I think will no shit lead to an attack on North Korea by the USA. I call it :

Memedumpster's Wargame Code For War With North Korea But Really China.

First, we must understand that war with North Korea is actually war with China, with North Korea as the Theater (or Kayfabe) Nation, China the Target Nation, and South Korea the Ante Of War.

Let us define our variables. Right now, the GDPs of the countries really involved are :

GDP_USA : 1.9 Trillion
GDP_China : 1.1 Trillion
GDP_SouthKorea : 1.4 Trillion

The GDP of North Korea is completely irrelevant, because it will never be about them.

I predict that if ever, through China's prowess or our incompetence, sixty percent of the combined GDP of the USA and South Korea fail to meet China's GDP, we will attack North Korea, watch them burn half of South Korea, and then bog China down in a regional Endless War(TM) that will destabilize their economy right into the toilet for a century.

So plug this into Skynet :

if (((GDP_USA + GDP_SouthKorea) * 0.6) < GDP_China)AttackNK();

So fear not, China needs to add another 900 billion or so to their economy (with the USA and SK adding nothing) before we buttfuck them solid by attacking North Korea.

Whichever side in this Russia takes will only serve this interest, so they will probably play China and North Korea off each other for a premium by being "allies" with China. They are only ever our ally and none of the big nations will attack each other, we'll just all fight it out in the former North Korea.

I put this out here so if we up and attack next week against all my predictions you can tell me I owe you a beer. I will totally buy you one.

SolRo - 2018-02-16

Counterpoint;

trump is president

President controls US military

trump only cares about his (and to a lesser extent his relative's) prestige and wealth. has almost zero understanding of global economics.

China gave trump a bunch of trademarks and patents to operate businesses in the country. China makes all the cheap shit sold under the Trump brand and the garbage his wife peddles.

Thus trump has no personal reason (the only reason that matters to him) to fight china either economically or militarily.

QED

SolRo - 2018-02-16

Though he does have a reason to start a fight with North Korea; He was insulted by Kim, and he has the delicate ego of an emo teenage girl. that just got dumped. that is going through a hormonal thing. that is listening to a lot of nu-metal emo music.

SolRo - 2018-02-16

So the real question is if trump is dumb and brash enough to start a war with best korea before someone smart with access to him makes it through the throngs of idiot sycophants surrounding him to explain how much money he'd lose by starting the war.

M-DEEM - 2018-02-16

"delicate ego of an emo teenage girl. that just got dumped"

Finally something solro is qualified to speak on

Mister Yuck - 2018-02-16

Meme, you seem to think that America's foreign policy is coherent. SolRo's got it nailed. If we go to war it will be for the entirely shortsighted reasons of the people empowered to start wars: politicians. We'll go to war because Trump thinks it'll boost his reelection campaign, or because he's racist against those ching-chong guys, or because he figures he can buy irradiated Seoul real estate cheap. Or, most likely, we will go to war because of a stupid mistake that snowballs and no one backs down.

Monkey Napoleon - 2018-02-16

Counter-counterpoint:

If you think Trump being an idiot will save us from secret not secret proxy wars, you belong in the same category as him. He's just the guy who says "blast em" like a child from behind his spray-tan privacy screen, after which every detail of any significance whatsoever gets delegated down to guys who have a pretty good handle on what they're doing, and also happen to be more or less the same guys who have been running these military campaigns all along.

There hasn't been a president who has dictated large scale military strategy since 1961.

BorrowedSolution - 2018-02-25

Okay, now do "What Forty Nuclear Warheads Obliterating North Korea Would Look Like".
