I was a Mage Knight fan way back when it was new (which was, what, like 15+ years ago?) I am kinda lost as to what all this is. Mage Knight's entire point was to make a minatures game that was basically free of all the clutter and fidgetyness. The figures had all their stats on the base, and the base turned as the character got weaker/stronger letting you keep track of it on the fly. It was pretty easy to play and not a bad game. MK Dungeons was even better, letting you make sort of classic D&D style dungeon runs with the figures with a bunch of real, three dimensional props like blood altars and such and while it added some pieces and stuff, it was still pretty light on components. Best part was the treasure chests which contained randomized loot; you basically spun the knob on them, then opened it to read the stats on what you found. Really clever idea. I still have my MK figures and everything to play a huge game of Dungeons still fits in a medium size plastic tote.
Not sure why they turned it into a game that takes way longer to play with 10 times more needless components and shit. Money I guess?
