Ah, back when the Seattle homeless were viewed as funny hobos instead of the angry, drug fueled, dangerous schizophrenics they seem to predominantly be these days.
Also, stars for J.P. Patches, who by all accounts was a genuinely very decent person who spent the majority of his post-cancellation retirement working with the Seattle Children's Hospital.
So far, not a secret-pedophile, which in this age, seems to be remarkable.

In the past three weeks I’ve had a car window get a rock thrown through it (while I was in it) by one of the dangerously schizophrenic ones and been with someone as he life was threatened by one of the drug fueled ones, so yeah, I may be a bit biased.
It truly does seem worse in Seattle for whatever reason. Tacoma has a large homeless population, but they are largely more benign. Portland has an even larger homeless population, but they tend towards the aging hippies and gen X failure demographic.

Because Chicken the Did is a fucking idiot who has no idea what he is talking about, and that bootstraps comment is the cheapest strawman on the market.
Seattle has arguably the worst homeless situation in the country, and it's only going to get worse.
We're like a fucking buffet of every type of homeless person imaginable. Want the mentally ill? Yeah there's a dude with his dick out arguing with his reflection on Pike and Broadway.
Would a willingly homeless trust fund crust kid (a la lotsmoreorcs) be more to your liking? Right around the corner at Cal Anderson.
The lone junkie sleeping on his feet? He's usually outside of my apt on the corner. He's harmless, and he doesn't like Ezell's, so don't try to give him any.
The Jungle? They busted that up about the same time as they shut down Nickelsville; their denizens are now traveling circuses of tents bandied around by the cops in SODO and the ID. It's fine though. A rape here, a stabbing there. The occasional report of human trafficking, someone being shot in their tent. Nothing out of the ordinary, great place to raise a kid, those tents.
The city continues to shit the bed when it comes to helping the homeless here, and if you live here (assuming Chicken doesn't) you'd know you have to get used to seeing some really fucked up shit on a daily basis or you'd go mad as well. It's fucking depressing, not some NIMBY inconvenience.

cognitivedissonance - 2018-04-07 I occasionally volunteer in a shelter in Olympia, so I totally understand. Seattle is the logical terminus of the homeless bussing scam the red states utilize, effectively tricking the mentally ill into leaving and getting stranded at the end of the line to avoid addressing the logical flaws of their anti-tax fervor. It’s far from a new problem, it’s been going on since the Depression.
I’ve been homeless, and I know that life. Do what you can when you can. If you can’t give anything, just be kind.

yogarfield - 2018-04-07 I was homeless for a brief time in my early 20s, so I can kind of relate. Not in a "sleeping on the church stairs" sort of way, but lived in my car for a while. Sucked.
Oof, don't get me started on bussing. It's not just red states, Portland sends plenty on an up north trip. Just to be clear my contempt isn't with the homeless, but with our city's neglect and absolute mishandling of everything involving the homeless, addiction, and the mentally ill. I've considered volunteering, but I can't really find the time. Someday. And yes, kindness above all else.
