MRA is a valid movement. A lot of it revolves around custody battles now, or discussing female on male violence in court, which often gets laughed at. There are issues within MRA that need to be heard.

I think it's a HUGE mistake to conflate Incel with MRA. You wouldn't link them together anymore than you would link Scientology with UFO enthusiasts. Or Lorena Bobbitt with third wave feminism.

Some MRAs have the lustre of a legit movement, but if you look past the surface you'll notice it's just more of the same toxic masculinity. In one blog post they'll say that sexual assault of men/boys by women is a real huge problem, but then they make jokes about how if they were teenagers they'd want to be assaulted by their hot teacher.

Honestly modern feminism (not the 2nd-wave stuff) has more to offer for "men's rights" than MRAs. Feminists will argue for parternal leave (i.e. shared leave between any two parents), fair custody for dads (i.e. don't leave child-rearing entirely to women), etc. MRAs will never sign on however because they actively cultivate misogyny and feminism "is cancer" to them.

Pretty sure the reason they're being called terrorists is because this whole focus began when an incel killed ten people last week. When i say it's a good book, I confess I still haven't read the whole thing. It's on my list, but there's a really fascinating excerpt available for free in the Google Play Books App, which, if you've never looked, is f filled with (perhaps quite literally) a million free excepts to a million books.

I didn't love "Backlash" but read "Stiffed" years ago and thought it was super. A very positive, grounded take on what it means to be a man. It's the sort of thing I'd give a nineteen year kid just in the hope that he might get something out of it.

I felt the same way after Vox Day, longtime super-troll and weird-internet fixation, suddenly got into national publications thanks to that dust-up at those science fiction conventions where a lot of mankids who called themselves the "sad puppies" got upset that the prizes seemed to be going to novels that were all literary and dealt with the Big Questions, instead of "Manly Spaceman Bones Sexy Space Lady Part 34734353." The dude is so obviously crazy and then he hit the friggin' big time. It's essentially wrong.
