Hugo Gorilla - 2018-07-23

I just want point out this is the same guy who chased off a cosplayer from Magic the Gathering tournaments because he didn't approve of people donating to her through Patreon. In case anyone thinks he knows what he's talking about.

Very fun, if somewhat rambling, beat-down. Thanks Hugo!

"...taking away everything that made her great..."

I'm impressed; I don't think I could keep a fart going for 10 minutes like that

I learned about this video when I checked Catie Wayne's Twitter feed, and found a retweet from Lindsey Ellis with the comment "Are men all right?" Now that she's not on youtube anymore, it makes me happy to see that Catie is letting her feminist freak flag fly!

He made a follow up video in response to the youtube comments on this one.

SJW's Losing Their MINDS Projecting Creepy Thoughts On She-Ra Cartoon

https://youtu.be/4i82QFHd-N0

The following is what I posted in the comments, edited a little bit.

YouTube comments are dumb, and the idea that you're an incel, and that it matters somehow, is obviously dumb and reductive and an ad hominem argument. Mostly, I thought it was insulting for you to throw around subjective terms like "feminine" and "beauty" as if they were empirically proven.

I think that in a sexually neutral, purely aesthetic way, the new Shera seems as "beautiful" as the old one, she's just not as fuckable. Objectively, the new she-ra looks more like an actual 15 year old girl than the former Princess of Paps, and so you carrying on about what a woman is supposed to look like is just horrible, and insulting to girls and women who don't look like a Playboy Bunny. Oh, and she's a man? That's just fucked up.

The pointed way you talked about the creator being a lesbian, like you'd uncovered a dark secret, was really insulting, and it's just bigoted to suggest that if a woman who happens to be a lesbian wants to make the character true to her own experience, that's "an agenda", but the original version of the character, created by men, is just natural and normal.

I don't think you want to jerk off to She-Ra. What I think is that it disturbs you that women might not grow up with the message that painted sexualization is the feminine ideal. And the idea that without that unrealistic feminine ideal, the men of the future will have "nothing to look forward to" is. frankly, insulting to the men of the future.

Anaxagoras - 2018-07-24

No, men are not aright. There appears to be something *seriously* wrong with us.

poorwill - 2018-07-24

And specifically with JHM.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2018-07-25

Honestly, the same thing is wrong with me that's wrong with the Incels, the MgTows, the TFLers. I stopped dating years ago because I was so fucking terrible at it. I was a lonely nerdish adolescent, and I grew up on a commercial male-oriented pop culture that taught me that having sex was the most important thing in life, and then taught me nothing about actual women. I think that's really what's happening now, with all of these disgruntled men who, thanks to the internet, have banded together to convince each other that women are the ones who need to change.

It's pretty doubtful that all this TROPES VS WOMEN IN VIDEO GAMES stuff leads directly to violence against women, but it does nothing to help men to relate to real women, and it's not a stretch to suppose that an inability to have a real relationship can lead to domestic violence, and a whole lot of destruction. You can say, with some justification, that teaching young men about real women isn't the job of video games. But is there anything in the culture for men that focuses on real women? There should be something, but I can't think of it.

My point is that what the ideal of quote "beauty" unquote that this guy is defending isn't making men happy.

"My cartoon wank fantasies are sacred, I tell you!"

Nikon - 2018-07-23

I was happy to see some SJWs get triggered over the news of the Buffy reboot. For the first time they finally understand the disappointment of fans of Star Wars, Trek, Ghostbusters, etc.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-07-23

Please tell me that Buffy is going to be a guy who who works at a car wash. You know. buffing things. Or maybe a gay guy in a gym and his name is Buffy because he's...masculine.

Xenocide - 2018-07-24

And yet, Nikon, you'll notice that none of these "SJW's" (people still say that?) have gone around harassing the Buffy creative team, sending them death threats on Twitter, or announcing that the entirety of western civilization is ruined now. In fact the entire response I've seen was people kind of just going "yeah, that was bound to happen sooner or later" and getting on with their day.

Also, Lady Ghostbusters was two years ago. Have you considered having emotions about something else now?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2018-07-24

Yeah. People still say that.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2018-07-24

If you're over the age of 13 and you say things like "SJW" and "triggered", you fucked up somewhere. Hard.

bongoprophet - 2018-07-25

as long as you see "some SJWs" and you keep conflating that with SJWs and then conflate that with people with different opinions you will never not be subjective as hell.

do this little experiment: go on youtube and search for buffy reboot and she-rah reboot

you know what you will find in the top results? you will find:

1. SJWs are triggered about buffy reboot-videos
2. SJWs have ruined She-rah-videos

now, what do you think is the common denominator here? (hint: it is not women)

garcet71283 - 2018-07-24

Actually what I find most interesting is how conservative her new outfit is. Remember when we used to ridicule things like this as prudish?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2018-07-24

With KID SHOWS? No, I do not remember that.

garcet71283 - 2018-07-24

Oh I'm sorry, i looked at the discourse surrounding this and thought it was a serious show for mature audiences.

Xenocide - 2018-07-24

I don't understand. These beardos can and will wank off to the bat from Sonic the Hedgehog, every single My Little Pony, and likely a plurality of Disney's Cars. But She-Ra's a no go unless she looks like a Barbie doll cosplaying as Thor's girlfriend? Do things become less sexy to these guys the more the begin to resemble real human women?

poorwill - 2018-07-24

Yes.

poorwill - 2018-07-24

But they normally go for children so I don't know what's up with that.

garcet71283 - 2018-07-24

But how the hell is anyone supposed to paint this on the side of a van?

Rosebeekee - 2018-07-24

Never watched She-Ra, but I'm glad to see this new take will be probably be healthier and more inclusive for girls and kids of different races, but I wish they'd leave out the size inclusive shit. My boyfriend's 11 year old niece just had surgery on her back due to her weight (apparently she had to get rods inserted), so a little less normalizing obesity to children would be nice.

Dr. Lobotomy - 2018-07-24

People are surprised that a reboot of a 22 minutes long toy commercial about a Marie Sue character solving all her problems with performance enhancing drugs, I mean a magical performance enhancing sword, isn't sticking too close to the original material?
