This is highly amusing :)

This seems like typical USA to me (Maybe I've watched too many Louie Therouxs weird weekends) except made cooler and more amusing by the Korean flair.

Also where all the fatties at? This video had no horribly obese people, or even just fat people that I noticed..
Thats what I expect to see in the USA: A load of religious fatties with AR15's playing baseball.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2018-11-13

You are one charming motherfucker, you know that?

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2018-11-13

Are you being sarcastic? Cant tell via text.. Are u from the US? Perhaps my US hate boner is offending you.

The thing is.. The US is a biiig country, and therefore produces proportionally more documentary films and non-fiction books about its many big problems. I tend to read/watch a lot of that sort of thing so my knowledge of how fucked up the US is proportionally exceeds my knowledge of how fucked up Ireland is.

And the US is quite fucked up. I think ye are a bad influence on us, we're like the dodgy middle child of the EU, hangin' out with this bad influence and pickin up bad habits when we should be following the example of our good sister Denmark.

Anyway please dont take my US bashing personally. All people from poetv are exempt :)

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2018-11-13

Also the English speaking internet is kinda dominated by USians so I see it as my duty as a non USian on the English speaking net to shock ye out or ye're torpor. Even though I sorta so that to everyone irl anyway.

You're like the verbose, bland blending of SolRo and waugh.

SolRo - 2018-11-14

I think Nominal has a crush on me.

SolRo - 2018-11-14

Also, yes, this is prime Americana.

Fatties are just too lazy to go to gun cult boot camp and instead spend most of their days watching fox news and posting on the internet about good guys with guns fanfic and rape gang racial dogwhistles.

From people i've met; people that live in actually dangerous places in America will rarely have more than one gun, and at most it will be a shotgun but usually a cheap handgun...if you're forced to live in the ghetto part of town you usually cant afford the NRA dick extender. (many do not have guns at all and have plenty of stories of being held at gunpoint without getting raped or murdered, just robbed)

The people that own the most guns are the paranoid idiot armchair warrior collectors, generally toward the more wealthy side, living in safe communities. They are paranoid about the government and/or 'the other'. They spend thousands on collectors editions of popular guns. While once in a blue moon they will do some real target practice, most of their training with guns comes from call of duty or imaginary hero roleplay. Also same idiots that buy 60k pickup trucks to drive around town and get groceries.

Most interesting one ive met was a right-wing disabled veteran, pretty obese and actually disabled enough to need a powered wheel chair. He had a big gun collection and a bugout-prepped SUV ready for the apocalypse. I don't think he was actually able to use any of the big guns or get into/drive the SUV. He also played a bunch of the skinner box web browser games, dumping way too much money into them. (possible overlap? easily exploited addictive behavior and easily fueled gun nut/prepper paranoia?)

(you're welcome nominal. kisses!)

i knew a kid in the flyover like 20 years ago whose stepdad had a battle plan if the UN attacked the house from the front or the back

i can't imagine he's gotten any more sane or rational since then. go to a gun show, you'll run into dozens of those walter mitty g.i. joe turds

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2018-11-14

It's not your hate boner for the US. It's your abject stupidity and annoying presumptuousness.

It's not that the US isn't full of nuts. It isn't that the tide of general nuttiness isn't rising in the United States: it almost certainly is. It isn't that you dislike American culture or its effects on your own: many people do, and it's your right. It's that you think that Americans on the internet are so dim (or sunk in "torpor" as you put it) that it's up to some Irish video game dweeb to smash our red-white-and-blue illusions to bits. Kindly get over yourself.

Look, there are reasons that I'm an American who's chosen to spend much more time outside of the United States than in it. I haven't actually been back to the States since Obama's first term. And I have a particular dislike for war nerds and gun worshipers, which the US produces in bushels. But it's one thing to know this and another thing to see some non-American throw around lazy stereotypes with utterly undeserved authority. It is your duty to not act like an ass.

The fact that you've seen a lot of American culture on the internet means next to nothing to me, frankly. I wouldn't myself an expert on Ireland because I've seen a lot of Father Ted reruns on BBC America, and certainly not to an actual Irishman. And you act like this in real life, too? Christ. Maybe it's time to start asking yourself if you're better at relating to video games than people. If so, maybe you'd like to do something about it.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class

Did you read my 2nd comment?
I read a lot of *books* and papers, science, history, economics, social stuff etc.
From my reading I have garnered that the US is objectively a shithole and also a terrible influence globally, but its nothing to do with the people, whether they're fat or gun toting or whatnot, that is just some amusing flavour.
The the actual reasons I do not like being on the same planet as the US are..

1. Carbon. Consistently one of the biggest carbon emitter per capita. Literally destroying the entire world. Also has stymied any political global attempts to limit carbon by ignoring them whilst being the largest economy, and largest emitter.

2. Imperialism.
Earlier in the 20th centiry, basically conquering banana republics like Venezuela and Nicaragua.. now doing the same thing pretty much all over Africa and south America through neo-liberal economics. Ensuring a good % of the world population are trapped in poverty.

3. No anti-trust + extreme corruption = monster corporations.
The US hasnt had any anti-trust since the 80's, and it was in decline before that. Its an ideal breeding ground for monster corporations, who thanks to the extreme corruption, pretty much dictate the countries policies. So you end up with corporations like Monsanto, and insane situations like the military industrial complex, and prison industrial complex.

4. Warmongering.
All the US arms manufacturers need there to be wars, and as they get to dictate the countries foreign policy, they ensure that there are wars. The US has been constantly at war, or starting wars, obviously recently, all over the middle east, and now the US is acting extremely provocatively and aggressively towards China, by building a ring of military bases completely encircling the routes to their major ports, and having large fleets be present.

5. Trade agreements
These secret trade agreements the US makes with other countries ACTA, SOPA etc. So US corporations pretty much have complete control over US policy. But they even want to change the policies of countries who still have some element of sovereignty left.

6. Influence on urban and regional planning.
The 'Detroit model' of everyone having cars, building suburbs and motorways originated in the US.. Now, they didnt force anyone to do it, but this model was emulated all over the world. Its a pernicious design that causes a lot problems and is very hard to fix.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2018-11-14

Going back to my previous comment, it's not your politics I disagree with per se, it's your attitude. You may have missed the fact that I said that "It isn't that you dislike American culture or its effects on your own: many people do, and it's your right." The fact is, I'd agree with at least some of the analysis you provided here. There is a reason I don't live in the United States and haven't for a while, not least because I don't like driving and don't want to own a house in the suburbs. I've got a bus pass, thank you very much.

My problem here, to put it baldly, is with the fact that you come off as an unbearable, condescending, emotionally tone-deaf fuckhead spouting off about shit that you've read about (congrats!) but seem to comprehend at an anarchist-bookstore level. It's not your politics, sweetheart, it's you. Tell me more about my own fucking country from what you've learned watching Louis Theroux documentaries. Tell me what "typical USA" is from across the ocean. Write me a six-point list about that. You're entitled to your own opinion, but who the fuck do you think you are to spout off about the American psyche to actual Americans? I've read "Ulysses" three times, but I'm not going to go on about your profound Irish soul. I fucking know better.

(Well, it is your politics inasmuch as I've seen you suggest that the people who died in the Sept. 11 attacks basically deserved it for being part of the monolith of American capitalism. I bet the Honduran dishwashers who died in the restaurants on the top floor totally got what came to them. Not to mention those dozens of firefighters.)

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2018-11-14

@Miss Henson's 6th grade class

Ok, your stance is becoming a bit clearer to me.
But allow me to clarify my own position...
Theres the US, the country, which as an entity I pretty much hate for its terrible influence globally; the reasons listed above.

And then theres videos (like Louie Theroux, and this one) about some very silly people. Which are simply entertainment.
Two utterly separate things here. I do not have any particular opinions about US culture. In fact I consume an awful lot of it and enjoy it tremendously (eg. ATHF). The typical USian thing above was just a funny comment, like the baseball one on the kool-aid man video below.

I reckon you hate my sense of humor, and thats totally understandable and fine.

It is entirely possible that we are not meant to get along. Well, that's that.

Except the scary part is this is yet another absurdist/dystopian Onion-style idea that actually exists in RL. (Even more scary is with the way things are going, more people may actually want to join when they hear about it...)

I'd drop a cool $4.99 on that outfit in a video game, can't lie.
