So it appears that the RapeBots in Flesh Gordon were not only constructed for a 15 second sight gag, they were also built to evoke this incredibly obscure reference. Back before the internet, when Flesh Gordon was made, I would NEVER have been able to find this!

Anybody else ever read Louis L'Amour's "Haunted Mesa"? I fucking loved that book as a kid. He based a lot of it on this movie. Basically, some archaeologists find a dimensional hole in a Navajo pueblo, and cross over into a crazy space opera universe. Really out of tone for his usual style, and LOTS of bonkers imagery.
