Honestly I'm not sure they did, or at least not all of them. This could just as easily be some marketing team looking at a bunch of slightly out of date Youtube kid fads, and then being trolled by the actual design team (I've had a few Hasboro designer acquaintences over the years and they definitely know, but they don't know as much as you'd think they would).
