I remember sitting & watching this with my parents & little sister because we all loved "The Far Side."
I can still remember the first one I saw. It was the one where two biologists are examining a wrecked camp in the jungle. One has found a journal the last entry of which reads "Tomorrow, I will test the sense of humor of these gentle primates with a simple hand buzzer."

This is my chance to talk about what I call the Watterson-Larson Paradox.
Both Bill Watterson (Calvin and Hobbes) and Gary Larson (The Far Side) quit while they were ahead and became hermits.
However, while refusing all merchandising opportunities, Watterson has allowed Calvin and Hobbes to be online for free, while Gary Larson, while allowing merch such as greeting cards, has forbidden all posting of Far Side comics on the internet.
You would expect the latter to cop flack for this. But it's WATTERSON people are obsessed with. Whenever he makes ANYTHING, people, to quote K.C. Green, 'jizz their pants'. Parodies depict him as continuing to draw Calvin and Hobbes strips but destroying each one as soon as he finishes it ( https://entertainment.theonion.com/bill-watterson-writes-illustrat es-shreds-new-calvin-a-1819572912 - a likely reference to his actual practice of painting as a hobby and burning everything he paints so nobody can ever make money from it) and drugging his stalkings and giving them tattoos of Calvin pissing on their names ( https://www.somethingawful.com/news/bill-watterson-stalker/1/ ).
Yet, even though he actively makes it harder to access his work, Gary Larson gets NOTHING.

Kid Fenris - 2019-01-01 Calvin and Hobbes kinda sucked for its last two years, so I'm mystified as to why people cling to every minor thing Watterson's done since.

BHWW - 2019-01-01 Whatever minor thing from the original creator has made since, piffle it may be, it's not as bad as every Calvin and Hobbes fan-project that has emerged since then - it's not the occasional tribute that I find objectionable as it is the unofficial "continuations" and "true ending" webcomics that depict a Calvin that's "all grown up" or whatever and are so overwrought and cliche and ladel on the schmaltz or are overly cynical to a ludicrous degree.

There was this massive bookshop called 'the book centre' in the centre of my hometown Waterford City. It was a giant space that used to be a theatre. It was the place where you would meetup. Eg. I'll see u at the book centre tomorrow at 2.
When I was like 10ish I would wander in there and read stuff. I read all the far side books multiple times there. It never occurred to me that that could possibly be unethical, *buying* them was just not in the realm of possibility.
