There is some aspect of my youth captured in the video.

Also, can someone do a faux cultural critique reading of this video whereby the people are simultaneous rejecting the consumer culture in which they are embedded but produce a video for consumption paradoxically creating a video on which no TVs will exist to play it thereby deconstructing the construction of of the television viewer-consumer? Fart.

Don't forget to put some identity politics in there for a double-fart.

The summer when I worked a second job at a local thrift shop in the mid 2000s someone dropped off a huge (10"-14" long) commercial deep free late at night. It was there for a few weeks before we could get it legally removed so in the mean time me and another guy filled it up with old TV sets and CRT monitors, and then on lunch break we'd go out, stand on top of it with our feet on the edges, and slam cinder blocks and bricks and big rocks down into it as hard as we could.

Once I also dressed up in full snow pants, heavy jacket, hard hat and glow in the dark alien mask (for safety), took a golf driver out onto the load in area, and tried to drive a plugged-in lava lamp as hard as I could into the parking lot. When that wax hardens onto pavement it is just about the slipperiest thing I've ever stepped on, it's a miracle nobody fell over and sued us. I almost did myself a couple of times, since it exploded right in front of the back door.

That was a pretty good job.

For the record, we were all in our mid 20s and sober when all of this happened, so there's really no excuse for it. That was the most fun part.

When I was in middle school I went to this really weird christian retreat weekend thing at George Fox University (a christian college) that was "riot" themed. One of the things we did was throw hammers at a wall of TVs. Other activities included jello baseball, car smashing, egg throwing contests, and midnight prayer.

It was a thoroughly bizarre experience, but smashing things was fun, at least.
