Apparently this was a skit by comedian Lenny Henry back in either '95 or '97. Perhaps he wanted to do a modern analogue to Peter Cook and Dudley Moore's "Superthunderstingcar!" (which mocked the Gerry Anderson Supermarionation, and is being submitted by me). Thing is, Anderson's marionettes were already a little Uncanny Valley, so when Pete and Dud are made to look like them they look sort of silly-weird. This... is just unsettling.
After my reply I went to the main page for the video and noted that viewers were cringing at it. I thought it was people who never saw Wallace and Gromit, and didn't understand where this came from.
I like weirdness and 'uncanny valley' stuff, and was laughing along with this as a good parody, and the stop motion effect iced the cake!
