I thought women has a point about the prevalence of rape and that young men are too often taught that being cruel or violent makes you a man.

But then he pointed out that there's too many female superhero movies nowadays and their butts are too flat, and I realized I was being brainwashed by Hillary Clinton and soy milk.

betamaxed - 2019-01-29

You know the original ad was good based on the people it pissed off.

Also the bitching about female superheroes in movies now is fuckin laffo because there have been female super heroes in comics for almost a century.

Where were these clowns during the 00s when we were being pelted with horribad female superhero movies like Elektra and Catwoman?

You know what is a proper display of masculinity? Not crying your eyes out into your budk catalog because you faced an ounce of criticism or because other people got to be viewed positively for a hot minute.

Binro the Heretic - 2019-01-28

When did exerting power over those weaker than you become "manly?"

Mister Yuck - 2019-01-28

When we were still monkeys I think.

Binro the Heretic - 2019-01-28

We really should try to be better than monkeys.

Mister Yuck - 2019-01-28

Agreed. Failing that, we could choose cooler monkeys to be like.

Gillette fucked itself over by handing an ad campaign about masculinity over to a third wave feminist. What the fuck did you think was going to happen? Fucking idiots. Because if there is anyone who is going to paint straight men in a positive light, it's a woke white lady. The entire point of the commercial is that men are inherently unable to behave themselves, that the majority of our behavior counts as "toxic" and the purposeful misinterpretation of healthy male behavior (kids wrestling around is conflated with bullying) is even more disgusting. They also edited the commercial while still getting likes and views. In the original version there was a black rapper shown on television being lewd with women and objectifying them. They edited that part OUT but kept the white men being total assholes. The part where the guy barks is also weird because they use an actual dog bark sound effect. Because men are DOGS. Get it? Ugh.

Fuck this commercial just so much.

Two Jar Slave - 2019-01-28

You should grow an anger beard.

SolRo - 2019-01-29

liberals manage not to throw moral outrage campaigns over the hundreds of jingoistic 'patriotic' ads for trucks, beer and a bunch of other shit targeted at men insecure about their masculinity but one razor company tries to pander to us to sell their shit and you snowflakes get triggered so god damn hard you might shit anger diamonds.

It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

Chancho - 2019-01-29

I haven't seen this commercial because I knew it was bait.

SolRo - 2019-01-29

yeah most cuckservatives that are whining about the ad haven't seen it...but according to fox/facebook friends it's totally horrible an reverse-sexist!

Cena_mark - 2019-01-29

Yeah, they should have hired a first wave feminist instead, I dont want my feminism to focus on anything beyond voting rights, LOL. Yo MB, you seem to have thin and delicate skin, Gillette makes products that can help with that.

It's not a touching commercial speaking out against bullying. It's saying that men need to do better. All men. It's saying that men will just ignore suffering, hatred, and rape. It's saying that men don't do enough and that we need to START doing something about those issues. Because we don't already?

They easily could have told a story that was inspiring. About bullying, especially. They had that chance. Instead, they gave us a sermon about how we are inadequate as a gender. I'm sick of male shaming from women that think all men naturally, by way of being male, have something to apologize for. I'm sick of that attitude.

I submitted a Gillette commercial from the 80s that didn't make it out of the hopper. It was an incredibly positive, uplifting message about men and their relationships with their fathers and their sons. It was a celebration of what makes a man a man. If you want to blame someone for the millions of people that hate this commercial, look no further than the woman that directed it. She knew what she was doing. I'm pretty sure she knew a lot of people would hate it. That's what it was designed for. She designed this thing to be offensive and insinuate that men are not good enough, and that we need to tell them they need to be better. Not like women, because women never bully anyone or abuse anyone.

Advertising is never an accidental thing.

bongoprophet - 2019-01-29

like seriously. seriously. SERIOUSLY.

this cannot be so hard to comprehend. it is not saying all men. it is not.

please understand the following: saying that modern masculinity isn't without its faults is not the same as saying that all men are bad. it is pointing out that STRUCTURES and NORMS that still exist (and they still do).

It is like. I can't even.

How can you read it in any other way? and how can I watch it and not feel personally accused?

Meerkat - 2019-01-29

Weirdly enough, I have a cock-and-balls and didn't feel "targeted" by this ad in the least.

It is a mystery.

Cena_mark - 2019-01-29

This ad doesn't target men, just assholes. MB wants to remain an asshole, so he's offended.

Marlon Brawndo - 2019-01-29

Here's what a good commercial looks like.

Another problem with the new Gillette commercial is it isn't even an effective PSA. It doesn't really tell us anything other than a vague notion that men make our culture worse and the ending gives us hopeful music and shows us how men should act: including putting a stop to their boys playing around. You know, which is the same thing as bullying and typical male behavior where boys are horsing around it totally the same as violence and it must be stopped. This is third wave feminism at work, insisting all male behavior is evil.

William Burns - 2019-01-29

This is highly effective viral marketing at work. You and this troglodyte are currently advertising Gillette's brand for free, you retarded fuck.

William Burns - 2019-01-29

Oops, didn't mean to one star the video! 5 for banal evil.

betabox - 2019-01-29

Maybe it's not an effective PSA because it's not a fucking PSA? Just a thought.

15th - 2019-01-30

Maybe gilette and other companies can start manufacturing their plastic shit in the US and pay the appropriate taxes before lecturing us about social responsibility.
